Something of a spin off of the 'what are you working on' thread, I thought a thread might be useful where people can check in with what vidding they're planning to do that day/week if they're currently working on something, and report back on how it goes. I personally find that sort of accountability really useful.
Wails of 'omg vidding is haaaard' are just as welcome as showing off how much awesome progress you've made!
I'll start: this evening, I'm hoping to spend an hour or so vidding now that I've cleared an exchange fic deadline. I'd like to either make some more Fringe clips or tidy up what I currently have on the timeline for my Community vid and see what I want to do with the gaps.
Also, vidding is hard.

It is. I've finally clipped my source material for my Festivids assignement and have started the actual project, but I'm barely 25 seconds in and already "Meh" about it. I don't want this to suck. Aaaah. *pulls hair* (By the way, I'm not sure where to post about this but I rewatched "Backseat" earlier and have been humming that tune all morning. Your vids, they do things to me.) |

Vidding is so hard. Today I am going to finish my main festivids assignment. I have been saying that for the last week, but today I MEAN IT OKAY.
I have a completed draft. It's essentially done aside from clean up and fiddly work, but I can't quite get myself to finish the thing. Is frustrating because I managed to get all the usually hard parts done in a haze of vid farr, but now that I'm in the part that's usually easy I am buckling under insecurity and second guessing myself.
BAH.

This is the part of Sprockets where we whine.
I have been working on this vid forever, and due to various technical catastrophes, this is the fourth time I am having to reconstruct the clips from a partial draft export. It's not even a full draft. It's, like, a minute and a half. I have been working on the same damn (nonconsecutive) minute and a half for two years.
I am really tired of this minute and a half, guys.
Basically, this means I keep having to do the boring and painstaking parts over and over and over again, and I never get up to the fun making-new-things part.

eunice: ahh, so envious of how much you've done, that's really great! I am sure it is AMAZING.
and thuvia, wow, that's horrible! I am impressed with your perseverance, I think a lot of people would have given up by this point.

Today I want to go back to my Jeeves and Wooster DVD's because despite making some 65 GB of footage for a freaking one minute long vid, I managed to miss something  (and had to delete the full episode rips since my computer couldn't handle having them and the clips at the same time) The good thing is, I think I'm going to try and take two sounds from the episodes that will emphasize the action going on in the vid since the song is a bit mellow, and I might not be moved to do that if I wasn't having to go back to the DVD's anyway. So, goal is for the end of today--first draft finis! Ability to move on to Festivids assignment--check! |

Okay, existing bits of the timeline on the Community vid have been cleaned up and also have done some more clipping. This might actually get done after all! (It was originally a Club Vivid project that I couldn't finish by the deadline.)

... holy shit that's a draft. Ditto! *high fives* I rewarded myself for being productive (school-wise) today by slapping an ending onto my FNL vid. Of course god only knows when I'll have time to look at it again so having a draft in this case doesn't mean the vid is anywhere near being posted.  |

Okay. Got past the initial "Meh", took everybody's advice and just started adding clips to the time line, even fixed a few small things on the way. I've got both main choruses basically laid out which is nice, and the verses in between are filling up nicely. Or so I hope at least. Yay  |
