I don't know if it's so much brave as naive! It helps that I have watched, discussed, and analyzed WAY TOO MUCH Buffy and remember the show well. But yes, when I decided to start this vidding thing I did not realize how much effort it was to vid a fandom with so much source.
Of course there's a lot of really nice things about having a lot of source, too. Even though I've had my share of moments where I imagine a clip that turns out to not exist, I've generally found that whatever I want to express has some clip out there that does the job. So far anyway.

I remember when I first started vidding and had a stint in BtVS/AtS, I'd always just taken a small chunk - a Jonathan vid mostly using footage from Superstar, or just a Buffy/Angel s2 vid, or just a Wes/Fred s5 vid. Baby steps. Can't remember when I actually managed to convince myself I could make a vid using ALL THE FOOTAGE.

Yeah, that's what I'll likely do for my next few BtVS/AtS vids: either focus on a particular time period of the show or on a character/pairing with more limited source.
Though with "Under Stars" the huge amount of footage made it easy. Since the vid is about the stuff of everyday life for Buffy -- her nightly patrols -- I could look pretty much anywhere and find clips that suited my needs.

I have to say, I totally forgot that Buffy looked so squeeky clean and fashionable when out hunting. I was thinking that if someone didn't know the source the first 3rd of the vid looked like a suburban teen looking for her puppy.

LOL, that's so true. ;D I admire anyone who makes their way through the huge amount of Buffy source as well. As much as I'd like to vid Buffy, I just can't be bothered. Until the vid bunnies bite me and I absolutely can't delay digging through the material at some point. Speaking of bunnies, I'm having so many of them at the moment. So, my actual progress report: Started another project today and have been working on cutting the song for it. IT'S ELEVEN MINUTES LONG. I must be insane. Got it down to 5:50 already, but it's still too long.

Ha ha! It's especially amusing when she wears white while patrolling. I don't even, you know, eat lunch in white.
Kali, good luck with your song editing! Cutting out half the song is pretty impressive. I'm much more intimidated by the notion of music editing than I am by sifting through Buffy source. ;D

Oh thank God I'm finally making progress on Nicky's Homeland vid. And I'm only like, eight months late.
Turns out it was the song that got me into a a bit of a funk; I love it to bits but the story I wanted to tell was too ambitious and as much as I loved the song I couldn't warm up to it vidding-wise. But now I have picked something else and I've made more progress in two hours than I've made in the past six months. \0/

Man, yeah, if the songs not right vidding is agony. But sometimes it's sooo hard to let go of a song that's brilliant in all other ways. Just not for this vid!

I'm mildly hopeful now, the timeline's full; I just need to get the ending right. Which already sounds cut off in the song, so good luck to me
