Sounds like a codec issue. Do you have Lagarith installed? I ran my Lagarith AVI through LlamaEnc2 with no problems, and Lagarith is lossless. Yes, definitely a codec thing - I saw the name of it come up in a couple of error messages, but my brain was not working straight at the time, so I didn't write it down. I do have Lagarith, and cannot imagine why I didn't think of exporting to that first. What an idiot! Now I'm setting about re-learning Premiere. I just gave my iMac to Mum which had my extended trial version of Premiere Pro CS4 on it, but I have Premiere Elements 9 on the Mac Pro and it seems fully featured enough to have a go at finally finishing my 80's vid. All the clips for that are demuxed to m2v which won't work in Vegas, I believe, and I'd really like to do some more vidding on my Mac to broaden the horizons a bit. If I get it done in time I might submit it for VVC non-attending premieres.

You can multiplex m2vs back into mpeg-2s using TMPGEnc, although I'm not sure if that's a freeware option.

Although I'm going to keep banging away on the Mac for now, because I really should learn Premiere properly, just in case laptop goes *poof!* and also because there's A LOT of .m2v files for this vid, and that would make for lots of extra work. Yes, I am that lazy.

At the moment, because I need to dodge some framerate issues, I've been doing the following to my source for my VVC premiere:
1. convert 25fps AVI to MPEG-2 2. Demux to 25fps m2v 3. Assume FPS to 23.976fps m2v 4. Multiplex to 23.976fps MPEG-2
My combination of software means every step is necessary. *headdesk* At least it takes less time than it looks. I miss ye olde Premiere days of being able to edit avs files.

That's one heck of a workaround. I love that Vegas means I normally don't have to do all that, but for this particular project I'm using a combo of DVD and downloaded source, and when I tried to edit it all together in Vegas, it crashed big-time, so I made it Mac-friendly instead.

Oh my God! I hit a serious block with Nicky's Homeland vid a while back (probably because I'm trying to focus on something that the show only touched upon briefly, I think) but the past couple of days I've been slowly adding more clips to the timeline and doing some tweaking. Yay! There might be hope for this vid yet

I'm feeling good about this! I've been busy vidding this past week. Am now just putting final touches on my VVC Premiere and then I'll be done!

I just finished uploading my first video on youtube! Feels good. And a bit scary. I've never exposed my videos to critique like that, so I'm still hesitant to post the link anywhere here, where most of you are veteran vidders Other than that, I've started working on a Game of Thrones project and I'm still trying to finish a The Walking Dead vid. I'm having a bit of a vidder's block, though. But I finally managed to understand how to use Avisynth and VirtualDub, and I found that clipping my source material is now much easier, compared to the methods I used before. So that helps a bit.

I have a BtVS Willow-character vid near beta export level. It's got a few filler clips but I have a fairly clear idea of what I'm going to do next. Then perhaps I'll get the courage to post it here for feedback! I'm also finishing up a beta version of a pretty straightforward vid about Buffy and her nightly patrols. It's a level of complexity perhaps more commensurate with my vidding experience! And second in what I hope to be a trilogy of Buffy character vids set to Neko Case songs. Funny, I got into this because I wanted to vid Buffy, but I'm already getting excited about new fandoms, especially those with slightly more limited source material! I have vids in my head for Terminator (T2 & TSCC) and The Black Stallion. (Childhood obsession.)

Kali, that's good to hear! I worry that everyone is sick to death of Buffy vids.

You are such a brave soul - or have way too much time on your hands . I, too, got into vidding via BtVS, and would love to vid it, but the idea of sourcing and clipping 7 seasons makes me weep and wimper. So I'm vidding other shows instead... Personally, I like people vidding 'old' fandoms, because you don't see much new stuff for them, whereas the internets are flooded with whatever the current fandom of the month/year is.
