I hope not! In my limited experience, I found FNL quite easy to put down on the timeline. The camerawork and inherent motion makes it relatively easy to slip in some nice moments of musicality. And if you've got the structure down already and it's paint-by-numbers, it should hopefully come together very quickly.

MWUAHA! Second draft of my Festivids assignement finished! \0/ Turns out the "Just put stuff on the timeline and tweak it later" approach is gold. I just spent a few hours pushing and deleting and adding and tweaking clips and I'm much happier with the vid now. Feels more coherent, too. Yay! Final tweaking still needs to be done, but I don't think it's just random clips anymore \0/

;D I keep telling myself that if I make progress on that vid I can start another one that I can then actually talk about here and whatnot

Finished re-doing all the parts I'd done before and can now start doing new stuff. \o/ But first I cut out the bits I don't like anymore. Scrapped 2/3 of my storyboard notes because they were distracting me and/or my idea about what the vid is about have been distilled down a little more. I'll probably cut more of the notes -- this was the second vid I started, and I've gotten a lot less tense about pre-planning.
I started revising the beginning, which made it more thematically apt but much less pretty, which was so frustrating I saved the changes and reverted to an earlier draft. I'm going to try to fill in more blank spaces before I go back to revisions; microfocus is always a problem for me.
Now I should go work on Important Financial Stuff, but I am going to take a walk and then probably vid more instead.

I've been trying to final-export my GoT vid for the past HOUR. There's one damned stray frame that somehow KEEPS COMING BACK no matter how much I fiddle with that bit. It's been four or five exports and my patience is wearing thin!

@obsessive24 Fingers crossed it'll work soon! I've been poking at my GoT vid a little--moved scenes around, cut them, added new ones. It feels better to me now but I'm still sure if it's worth to be worked on. *sigh* I feel like my editing is too slow and uninspired and I'm not sure how to fix that. Meanwhile, I just rewatched "The War" starring wee!Elijah Wood. I love the film dearly, despite its flaws, and it just occured to me that I would really love to vid it. Ah, it goes on the list

I bribe myself all the time, and it works so well! Right now I'm working on a secret santa vid. I'm using 14 songs and blending them together (kinda like Tenth Doctor The Musical), using ~30 seconds per song. It's due in 3 weeks, so I'm making myself vid a song per day before I can work on my festivids. Since I'm really excited to work on my festivids, this plan is going pretty well so far. ;D

I added a few more clips from source episodes though there's much more to look through. It may be on hold for about 3 weeks while I get through the end of the school year.

elipie - blending 14 songs! That sounds super ambitious. I'm glad to hear it's going well. zippit - at least it's going! ;D That's what matters. Finally managed to get a full timeline of my Covert Affairs vid, but it's fraught with problems. No rest for the wicked.

Hmm, no progress at all over the weekend, thanks to an avalanche of RL (everything from washing cars to hanging Christmas lights), but on Friday I deconstructed what I'd already done of my Festivid and completely re-edited the first minute, as well as re-cutting the audio track because the bit I'd originally cut out fit the narrative better than the bit I'd left in. So I did a swap, and it works much better.
I'm also working on something else for Festivids, simultaneously, which I am trying the "clip while you watch" approach on, and I really like it. I'm just dragging the files into the timeline, scrubbing through, and chopping out the bits I want. They're all lined up in the video track at the end of the audio, ready to pull to the right spot in the song. And I'm finding it easier to scrub through them to review them than looking at a page of notes that don't make sense anymore, LOL!

I understand now why Florence & the Machine has become vidding cliche. I just started this new vid a few hours ago and I'm already a minute and a half into it. It's so viddable! And it makes sense. This is seriously unheard of for me. Hopefully I can be forgiven for drawing from that well. I also finished the first draft of my River Song vid, finally!

Gnat - If you finish it on time, go enter it at the special theme at Driver Picks the Music awards. It was my turn to suggest the special theme this round and I went with Florence and the Machine. I had a feeling we'd get quite a few entries. ;D But, yeah, anything with soaring vocals and tribal drums? Vidding gold. ;D littleheaven - glad to hear that the process is going well, despite RL avalanche! I'm in between projects at the moment. The thing that I really want to get onto is my Escapade premiere (or at least I hope I make it on time), but I don't have enough disk space for the source, so firstly I'm going to take one last stab at my Rome vid that's been sitting half-finished on my HD since August and taking up 40GB of space.
