I'm currently vidding Sherlock (BBC). There is some interesting camera work at play in the source, some of which I shake my head at, some of which I think is truly beautiful. Hit and miss, visually. I'm at the clipping stage, but I keep going back to my timeline and placing a few shots that I know I want on it. If I could stay away from the vid long enough, I might actually have enough source clipped to finish it!

Jackie - PEGGY!! \o/ Can't wait to see it.
Fabella - I'm interested in seeing how you'll deal with Sherlock. The canon (the way it's shot and I guess how the storylines are presented) codes quite cold and detached to me, which isn't a criticism, but instinctively it carries a very different feeling to how I perceive your vids generally, so it'll be interesting to see what you do with it.
I've been toying with a Sherlock/Moriarty vid idea for ages and was waiting for additional footage, but I think the character arcs in s2 actually hurt that prospect thematically rather than advance it. Still contemplating whether it's do-able.

obsessive24 I can definitely see how it might be a change of pace for me. It feels entirely different to vid, but the chill is what I like about it, I think. There is a whole lot not being said just beneath the surface. It doesn't speak of a lack of emotion to me, but instead the repression of emotion, the utter control of it. I'd be interested to see a Sherlock vid from you, especially of Moriarty. I don't intend to tackle his character (... I think) and I can see your flair all over him already. Maybe just bend your themes to suit? ;D

I'll sit back and see what you do with it first. And then if it's awesome ( when it's awesome, for it will be), I'll imitate you. Deal?

I want to be working on a Super 8 and a Hunger Games vid but I'm lacking songs! I hate when I want to vid a particular source and can't find a good song for it. Grrr!

@ legoline:
For a lot of vidders it seems to happen the other way round - they hear a song that 'fits x perfectly' and then vid that source. I'm like you, I think. I have got vid ideas for certain sources, and then go looking for songs. Which often is very time consuming and hard. I think part of it is that as a EFL speaker I do not automatically translate song texts - I can see that actually happening with German songs...... interesting.

@aminisias: While on the quest find a song for Super 8 I actually stumbled across a song I will now use for a Captain America/Steve Rogers vid. So that's something, I guess? It's way easier to have that "Oh, sing fits fandom XY!" epiphany. Unfortunately I'm more the type of "Arrrrrgh, I need to DO something with this source!" Like you said, finding a song is time-consuming. How do you mean? Because for me I've long stopped translating English songs (or literature etc.) in my head, most of the time I just get it like I would get German. (Though of course there are words and phrases that I have to look up/get from the context). Speaking of German songs, though--I really, really want to vid this song for The Avengers/Superman/Batman/whathaveyou. Unfortunately 85% of fandom wouldn't understand the lyrics ... www.myvideo.de/watch/8101614/Tim_Bendzko_Nur_noch_kurz_die_Welt_retten

I want to be working on a Super 8 and a Hunger Games vid but I'm lacking songs! I hate when I want to vid a particular source and can't find a good song for it. Grrr! I hear you sister! It's happening to me too (once again ). I want to vid Teen Wolf so badly, and I've been coming up with a list of werewolf-related songs, but there's nothing that ignites the kind of spark I need to actually get started. And half of the songs I collected are in German as well. While I'd really like to experiment with that, I want the lyrics to be enjoyable for a broader audience And I can't start clipping my source material without having a song in mind... because the song usually gives me a more precise idea of what I even want the vid to be about. Woes! Love your idea to mix Tim Bendzko with superheroes, btw.

That's interesting. I find if I'm really absorbed in a source, quite a few songs that I listen to make me think of it -- even when they really shouldn't! I end up coming up with a lot of really bad vid ideas that way, though luckily none has made it past my Vid Ideas playlist on itunes.
I've been working on another Buffy vid but hit a wall with it. It had a full timeline, but it just wasn't emotionally registering the way I wanted it to. I realized that I hadn't put together a clear enough narrative to make the emotional/analytical point I was trying to make, and that it needed to be pretty thoroughly reworked. Instead I'm taking a break and starting an Angel vid about Wesley/Fred/Illyria.
I'm also starting to prepare clips for a Sherlock vid and a Hunger Games vid. I'm a little worried about having multiple projects going at once, though. What if I never finish any of them?

Love your idea to mix Tim Bendzko with superheroes, btw. Maybe I'll just go ahead and do it, eventually :-) But ditto on the broader audience. frayadjacent I guess it depends on the fandom with me. I have about a dozen songs I could vid for Doctor Who, but other sources are giving me more trouble. A Wesley/Fred/Illyria vid? Hurry up, I need to see that one!

Thanks for your encouragement! Though I hope I didn't mislead you with my use of "/" -- it's not a shipper vid.

They are great, and really interesting for vidding. There's a lot to explore.
