What vid idea has eaten your brain today?
I'm just about to start a Game of Thrones vid. I found a really cool song that I really want to vid when I have more source from the next few seasons, but my husband convinced me to just make the vid for season 1. Hope it goes well. ;D

Love Game of Thrones. You could rock that vid.
I am working on nothing because my laptop is being repaired. I don't think I can vid on my iPad.

Exciting!! I can't wait to see what you do with GoT. I've been working on a Friday Night Lights vid that I'm basically putting together in 20-30 second chunks whenever I randomly find myself with a couple hours to spare at the end of the night. It may end up completely disjointed as a result but I suspect that is the only way I can vid these days, lol.

I'm working on catching hours of sleep here and there But seriously, I'm just trying to wrap up overdue projects and bids, and not even allowing myself to consider vids outside of those. It's kind of interesting because I'm watching a lot of new shows, yet not really all that interested in vidding any of them.

Oh hey, I'm working on a GoT vid as well. It's focused on Jon in particular. After seeing Sisabet's Thistle I was first incredibly inspired and then incredibly intimidated.

Hi guys! *waves at everyone* dragonchic - is it an ensemble FNL vid, or character-centric? I know we've talked before about focussing on narrative and emotion and it would be really good kind of source to use for that. Milly - I know what you mean. A lot of shows I watch lately I feel are so good and comprehensive that I don't feel compelled to vid them, because I usually vid to fill a hole of some sort. GoT is a bit of an exception. At the moment what I would *really* like to do is vid in a way that alludes to future book events and plot speculation, but it's hard with only s1 footage. Gnattery - how exciting! Mine is general Stark family with Ned as narrator, I think. I have mixed feelings about Jon. He seems like he should be the kind of character I should like, but I've never liked him in the show (might be to do with the actor casting), and while I liked him early on in the books, lately he's just not doing it for me. But a good character vid always serves to turn my character opinions around.

I am STILL working on a very overdue (hugely multifandom) auction vid for yourlibrarian, and haven't worked on much else, vid-wise, in a long time. I need to finish this! It's a fantastic idea, but it's also intimidating, and wrangling the hundred or so sources is proving a bit overwhelming. I could use some advice from anyone who's ever done a vid like this. Other than that, I have a Lost Girl vid that I want to make for Escapade. It's a Bo/Kenzi vid, lighthearted, huge surprise!

Killa - I sort of feel your pain in that I had to do an auction vid for yourlibrarian for multi-Whedonverse. So not quite as sprawling as yours, but there's some analogy there! ;D
My personal approach (and probably the only way I could handle this) was to storyboard like crazy. That vid was probably the most detailed storyboard I'd ever done; I wrote down the lyrics, broke it down by segments, then allocated themes and narrative development across the segments, then wrote down a number of clip choices against each lyric line. I think the fear is that the vid will come out very painted-by-numbers, but the way I vid, I really don't see how any other way would be possible without driving you completely crazy.

I have a few ideas that I've sort of been compiling source material for (Merlin, Game of Thrones & Docor Who), but I haven't anything in the making yet. I'm hesitant to start anything new as I feel I should really tackle my festivids assignement first.
I keep pushing that one off, though, because I'm so new at vidding and feel like I haven't really gotten a feel for narrative and the like yet, and I don't want to screw the vid up. I love the source material though and I think I've found a song to go with it, so that's good...I suppose? ;-)
obsessive24 I'm very excited about your GoT vid. Your Merlin vid is still my absolute favourite.

Festivids mostly at the moment. I have a Once A Thief vid that I put on hold to get started on festivids that I'd like to go back to soon, even though falling in love with and then vidding a 13 year old show means it is of little interest to anyone but me and, like, five other people . I also have a half finished S5 Doctor Who vid that I may or may not ever get around to finishing on account of it's now two years later.

I'm working on my festivid and I'm planning on making a treat vid.
I also have quite a few unfinished projects, some are almost finished but just not quite ready yet. There's a Supernatural vid I've been working on for over a year now and a Stargate Atlantis one that hasn't really clicked yet. And I'm working on several Reservoir Dogs vids, I'm just so in love with this movie right now.
obsessive24 I'm looking forward to your Game of Thrones vid!

I keep pushing that one off, though, because I'm so new at vidding and feel like I haven't really gotten a feel for narrative and the like yet, and I don't want to screw the vid up. I started writing up a response to this to the tune of don't feel like you can't start something because you're not good enough, because otherwise how will you get better? But then I thought about it and I do agree that sometimes it's better to sit on an idea until you feel like you're capable of doing that idea justice instead of just having it come out not at all like what you'd lovingly pictured in your head, so I'm torn there. ;D I suppose in this instance, what jumps out at me is that it's a Festivids vid, so to me the deadline pretty much takes that choice away from you anyway? Eunice - I feel your pain. I still want to make a Ianto/Jack/Ten vid that never properly got out of my system, but I've been paralysed with the notion of "who is still gonna care now?" But after some encouragement from Buffyann at VVC, I feel like it's back on the table, even if nobody is gonna watch it with the kind of love for these characters they would have a few years ago. It's a weird exercise, trying to distinguish between those oooolllld vid ideas that you just can't let go of no matter how long, versus the ones that sort of just fall away eventually. Hi lillythekid! Wow, a year-old SPN vid. What's it about?

Hi lillythekid! Wow, a year-old SPN vid. What's it about? Hi Oh, it's mostly just a Sam&Dean vid to a song I thought (and still think) fits them perfectly with regard to their on again off again kind of relationship, but this is exactly what makes it so difficult. There are so many (great) Sam&Dean vids out there and I just don't feel like this is ready.

Currently in the final stages of a BtVS relationship vid - nothing complex but I guess if you know my vids that's a given.
Then I want to look at some Christmas/seasonal vidlets, some as gifts.

lillythekid - I would seriously be too intimidated to ever vid Sam/Dean or some equivalent pairing, just because there's too many vids already out there. Maybe "intimidated" isn't quite the right word... it's just that I won't know what new approach I could ever bring to the mix. But of course people are still churning out S/D vids and I have to admit I'm curious as to the mindset, because I'm personally so far from it.
thedothatgirl - Ooo, which relationship? ;D
