thedothatgirl - A Spike and Dru vid would be lovely. Can't wait to see it. For a long while I kept wanting to vid Angelus and Spike and Dru (and maybe Darla) to NIN's "With Teeth", but that never panned out. I wonder why, it's still an appealling idea. Could I ask you to please pimp Vid Pub the next time you update the AVAs? It'd be much appreciated.

I'm not sure what you mean by "first draft" because it sounds like you think the term means something other than what you're already doing? From the way you describe your process, I'd say you're doing it already. See, I was envisioning all you lovely folks throwing random batches of rough clips together and going, "Yeeeees, kind of like this, of course it still needs to be edited and brushed up and tweaked" ;D I'm relieved to hear that apparently you're not. I really need to clip the source material and get my butt in gear.

Haha, well, I can't speak for anyone else, but I definitely don't do that myself. Sometimes when I need to plan a vid before I make it, I'd write up a storyboard either physically on a big piece of paper, or lately I just write it up on a Word document, but once I start a timeline, I usually wouldn't get rid of the whole thing and start a new one. (Unless it sucks beyond belief, in which case I'm much more likely to delete the whole project and just call it quits. )

I am currently clipping for an Olivias Fringe vid for counteragent, though I will probably wait for the s4 holidays mid-season break to finish it up and post it. Also I should actually catch up on s4 so far, er. >.> (I love Fringe, I just have to concentrate when I watch unlike the other shows I'm watching at the moment.)
Then there's Festivids and another secret project, a half-finished Community dance vid I'd like to polish up and post one of these days, and some more things for Doctor Who now the season's finished.

Oh, I love this thread already!
As you can see from my avatar I'm pretty much in love with Loki and Thor and their broken unbalanced brotherly relationship. I'm currently waiting for The Avengers to come out so that I can put my hands on the DVD and VID IT LIKE A FIEND.
The other project I have in mind is some sort of tribute to Italian cinema that would involve Adele's Hometown, but the amount of material I would need is scary enough that it will probably remain an utopia...

Once I finish exams, first thing I'm going to do is sit down and force myself to finish my super short River Song vid. River song in 92 seconds. There will be many explosions.
I just wanted to see if I could.
Unfortunately, in the mean time the half of it that I already have on the timeline has somehow gone from being OMG AMAZING to totally awful when I watch it over. I don't know if I'm picking up on real flaws or if I've just watched it too many times. Probably a combination of both.

I need to buy and download SO MUCH STUFF before I can start on it! I know what you mean. I'm sure a lot of people are super sick of me always talking about this Alexander/Merlin/Kings epic bromance vid that I'm gonna make one day, but the amount of external source I'm going to need just stops me blind in my tracks every time I contemplate it. That might be a good thread topic, actually. Huge epic vid ideas that you want to do because it'll be Ultimate, but the work it takes to get there stops you from ever starting.

" Huge epic vid ideas that you want to do because it'll be Ultimate" I think you should start a thread with this name, because it's epic. I also have another one of those, but yes, they are almost impossible to contemplate because of the amount of source needed. I should mention that I'm one of those people who think that the amount of source is proportional to the awesomeness of the vid. Like, you managed to make something awesome out of Draco, but seriously, for me that was some sort of miracle because of how FEW scenes there are with him in the movies! " Alexander/Merlin/Kings epic bromance vid" I never heard of this, but it would probably be great! You know I adore your Red even if I don't like Merlin.

Currently I looking for music , which is the hardest part for me. I song for my and Astarte's X-Files S6 Challenge ( I have time she still hasn't chosen for S5) and thanks to my obsessive watching I'm despite for the perfect song for a Community ensemble vid song.

See, I was envisioning all you lovely folks throwing random batches of rough clips together and going, "Yeeeees, kind of like this I used to think vidders (who were not me) possessed some sort of magic where they just kind of strung together sequences of clips that worked together and they instinctively knew which ones would go together or make their point. Being able to see other vidders (particularly vidders I admired) vids in progress and drafts was really eye opening because I stopped feeling like such a failure for having clips that weren't right that needed to be replaced and large blank spaces and bad ideas and crappy timing on the timeline. I think it was Luminosity who first told me that it's better to have something wrong on the timeline than nothing at all, because then you can figure out what's right.

Milly - I know what you mean. A lot of shows I watch lately I feel are so good and comprehensive that I don't feel compelled to vid them, because I usually vid to fill a hole of some sort. GoT is a bit of an exception. At the moment what I would *really* like to do is vid in a way that alludes to future book events and plot speculation, but it's hard with only s1 footage. It's interesting, because some of the shows I'm watching I don't feel compelled to vid because of how they look, and some others simply because I don't feel like a vid would be necessary. I think not having vidded much stuff that I was very excited about in a few months is also kind of turning my "vidder vision" to off, because the same thing is happening with music where I would always listen to a new song and consider if it could be vidded, while this is not really happening. Music is just music, tv is just tv. Clearly, the solution is to get done with these vids, then force myself to vid some of the shows I'm "fannish" about.
