I'd finally gotten back to fiddling with my Rome vid and think I'll be able to finish the timeline, at least. Then I'm not sure what I'll do with it, whether to get a beta to look over or not bother and post it, or not post it at all. *ponders* I'd love to see it if you feel like sharing. I don't think I've ever seen a Rome vid...?

I'd love to see it if you feel like sharing. I don't think I've ever seen a Rome vid...? There was a good Cassius/Brutus one that was posted on Vidding maybe a couple of months ago? Can't remember by whom though. Overall, yeah, not the most vidded fandom ever. ;D

katbyrd - that's a very early start indeed! Good luck! Is it just for Premieres, or other vidshows too? I'm very late in replying to your question. Sorry! I've been crazy at work. I'm working on vids for SHarecon, Starsky & Hutch. I'm hoping to have two never before seen vids for that con. I'm also making one S&H vid and one Professionals for Revelcon, Houston, TX (March 2012). I don't show vids elsewhere generally other than MediaWest which is another entire story. I'm not flashy or into hot and hip fandoms so most of the time people aren't interested in my vids outside of my fandoms so I don't submit them to other cons unless they're fandom specific. .

I'm currently working on a Christmas present for a friend and have developed a new technique: I call it the "Conscious Talkyface". Seriously, my source material is full of it. All the characters ever do is talk, apparently. Or most of the time, anyway, so it's impossible to avoid talkyface completely. So I've decided to acknowledge that fact and work with it the best as I can--I try to not make the talkyfaces seem random or cut off somewhere in the middle. And I try to keep them short. And if possible I try to have the "main" character of the scene not talk.*sigh*

Sympathies! I once had to vid Gilmore Girls and it was the same way. Hope you find some good workable clips anyway.

Sympathies! I once had to vid Gilmore Girls and it was the same way. Oh dear, that must have driven you bonkers ;D I think about 3/4 is talkyface-free. The rest I just have to learn to live with, I guess. And make it as little distracting as I can.

legoline, I like the "Conscious Talkyface" idea! I recently vidded Wonderfalls (in which people and assorted inanimate objects never shut up), and the point of the vid was that the main character, Jaye, giving in to the demands of the talking stuffed/plastic/wooden animals made her a better person, so there was a lot of talkyface. I don't think I used it as well as I might have, though. Talkyface is hard. Good luck!

Eee, I just started a new vid 10 minutes ago, and I'm in love with it already. Mostly because I've been holding on to this song since 1998 (2 years before I figured out how to actually make a vid) and finally found a character I thought would work with it. Just threw 10 or so random clips at the timeline, and oh, god, yes. This song was MADE for Duke Crocker.
I blame obsessive24 for sending me awesome vids today.

I finally have a first draft for a Festivids treat done. I love the source in question so I figured it would be easier to vid but alas, it turned out to be quite a challenge.

I'm madly working on a movie vid that I'm trying to post before year-end so I can put it into the annual vidding meme for this year. It's just a little bit shite, but whatevs. Timing over quality, this one. ;D But the reason I mention it is because I too went the "conscious talkyface" route for a rather long clip, so I'm fairly pleased about that. Development = win in my book Killa - Fantastic!! Must be a tremendous character to walk into a song you've been holding for 13 years. I finally have a first draft for a Festivids treat done. I love the source in question so I figured it would be easier to vid but alas, it turned out to be quite a challenge. For me whether it's easy to vid always depends on how well the footage naturally sits with the pacing of the music, not necessarily how good the source is. (Although it helps to the extent that visually dynamic source is probably more inherently viddable than, like, Gilmore Girls.)

I am working on two videos right now. Everyone's Filmography 2011 videos inspired me to do one of my own. However, mine won't include all movies from the year - only my favorites.
I'm also working on my very first Terra Nova video. It is starting to feel like that one might get tossed into the "never going to be completed" pile though.

Just started my second video ever (the ladies of Boardwalk Empire to Sinead O'Connor's "Daddy I'm Fine"), and I've hit the WHEEEEEEEE SHINY stage of it. I LOVE the concept I've come up with for the intro, the recurring themes I'm developing, and mainly the fact that I'M MAKING A FUCK YEAH BOARDWALK LADIES VID.
