And now I keep wondering whether I should properly finish it, which means I'd have to go over the narrative again and push things around but ah, that'd be so much work ;D Is this even really a question? Because The Eagle is so very pretty, and you want your fellow fans to be happy, don't you...?

Because The Eagle is so very pretty, and you want your fellow fans to be happy, don't you...? I do, I do... ;D It's just--I started vidding this for me so initially I just threw random clips of Roman life and Pictish life on the timeline and all was good. Then I realised there's actually half a narrative in the vid but it feels like it's all over the place and I'm not sure what to do with it. I was considering posting the draft in the Wip/Beta board but I don't want to be hogging all the "help" threads.

On the upside, I FINALLY finished a full timeline for my Rome vid. On the downside, HOW SO SHITE, VID.

Oh, six seconds near the end of my current vid—the only six seconds without something on the timeline—why do you hate me so much? I think I may actually have tried every moment of the source I have in iMovie in those six seconds, and nothing looks right.
On the other hand, holy spontaneous moment of awesome near the end of the song, Batman! That makes up for a lot.

I've been rewatching my The Eagle vid for so long I am officially past the stage where I can tell if anything in there works--including editing, content, music. Everytime I go, " Now I'm done!" and come back to the vid an hour later I shake my head and think, nonononono....

Nice, icepixie! Legoline - I suggest leaving the vid for a few days and coming back to it later.

@obsessive24 I think I didn't actually work on it the last few days and only came back to it today, but I will ignore it for a little longer, I guess.

legoline -
In situations like that, I find there is usually something in the already existing timeline that needs to be sacrificed or changed up, no matter how much I love the sequence. Once I release that segment into the vidding nether world, the troublesome blank seconds often become a bit clearer to vid.

\o/ everyone! And legoline, I'm gonna echo the "just leave it alone for a few days and breathe" advice. It's hard to be objective when you've been staring at the same sequence of clips for hours on end.
I FINALLY got the one clip that was bugging me fixed. It was two frames too long, needed a zoom, and a clip thrown in on a whim right before it got it back on beat. Success!

NICE song choice. ;D
Been productive yesterday - full timeline of my Rome vid doesn't look quite so shite now, and I have about half of my Escapade vid as well. \o/

I think it was Joss Whedon that once said to make something right he often had to chuck out his very favourite bit. I've found that to be true on many an occasion!

I've been working on a White Collar vid that is revealing to me I have a lot of ways I want to vid the show... I keep trying to stuff it all in one video, and yeah, nope, that doesn't work. I keep having to reign myself in from crowding the video with plot lines and pretty shots. I think this show is a three vid minimum for me so far. I'm working with a pretty epic song right now, so it's super important I maintain the focus of the video or it will just fall flat. Ugh. @ littleheaven - Absolutely! In my current vid alone, I've ditched three segments that I loved so much (so much!) but were completely out of place with the rest of the video. I made a note on one of them, though, and plan to use it, slightly modified, with a different song, in a different vid.

I broke my vidding funk and got some stuff down on the timeline today, yay! It was only a few seconds, but it was good to get those bits out because I've been avoiding them. I might just make that deadline for DPTM after all.
On the other hand, I just discovered that some of my source episodes have slightly different aspect ratios! FUN.

Speaking of having to delete stuff we like... I just had to carve a second and a half out of my timeline. It broke my heart! ... Ok, so I stuffed it in an empty spot on my timeline in hopes that I'll find somewhere to put it before I'm done, but it was still hard. I want to use it so bad. Oh, well, another vid for another day.
