Hi there! I'm so happy to see you guys are enjoying your assignments! I just wanted to jump in and say I'm sorry a couple of you got excited for fandoms that weren't requested - that's generally a risk when you look at the total list of fandoms. During sign ups, the only way to be sure that something has been requested is if (1) you see it on an early-posted Dear FV letter, or (2) it appears in red on the list - but of course, lots of requested fandoms don't appear in red, so that's a way to be sure something is requested, but not a way to be sure it isn't.
Now that sign ups are complete, the best way to see if something is requested is to look at the Dear Festividder Link Post, and look at the fandoms mentioned in the comments - although at some point we may post a general list.
As for betas - it's fine to ask another Festividder, there are always a couple of people who know about particular vids - you just want to make sure there's only a very small circle of people who know which vids are yours. And you can always post either in your journal, or to the FV community, or even Vidding, to ask if people are willing to beta a vid for a source you can't reveal. Obviously, when you do that, it's unlikely your beta will be familiar with the source - but in a way, for Festivids, that makes sense, since a lot of the "audience" for Festivids won't be familiar with it, either.

Thanks for the info, giandujakiss! Yeah, I'm checking the Dear Festividder Master post semi-regularly, but even if this particular fandom doesn't appear I'll still vid it for myself at some point. And I wouldn't have even thought about it if it weren't for Festivids. ;D

Is anyone else having the problem where they have too many festivids ideas? I keep jumping between a bunch and finishing none. /o\

I have too many ideas for all kinds of treats, but none for my actual assignment, as I still haven't found the right music for it

I was having that problem at first, but my life became more busy recently and I'm having to focus *only* on my assignment. I won't be doing any treats after all. Which I suppose is good and bad -- I'm definitely focusing my vidding energy on my assignment, but it sucks I don't have more time for my fun new hobby!

I want to make treats for a few sources, but cannot find the right song... and I have ideas with songs and everything for sources that aren't requested/aren't rare... Well, there's still time I have a draft of my assignment. I was totally lucky, I had a song for that already picked out

Hey, how's everyone's progress? I just started clipping--I picked a really tricky song for a challenging source so that's kind of making the whole thing daunting, plus I'm in the process of moving. Oops. Should make it in time but I'm afraid I can't make as many treats as I'd hoped, maybe even none

Oops. Should make it in time but I'm afraid I can't make as many treats as I'd hoped, maybe even none I was moving during Festivids last year, so I totally know how you feel. I'm still definitely in a phase where I just completely lose momentum once I finish clipping. Luckily there's a small circle of LA vidders and we've been pretty good at pushing each other along, and getting one of them to look at what I had so far really helped.

I have finally finished my mammoth source rewatch, which took a lot longer than I anticipated. I clipped as I went so editing started two days ago, and I have about 10 seconds done. I can only really vid 3 evenings a week, and I'm very slow, so I'm hoping I don't have to chop my song in half (or less) in order to complete something in time. This is the longest vid I've attempted for Festivids.

How is everyone doing?
After a long struggle with the new version of my editing software (and OS and everything vidding related thingy) I finished my first draft some days ago and I'm waiting for answer from my beta(s). Maybe I'm doing a treat, maybe...

Last year I opted for making treats from movie source which were reasonably easy and fast to knock out. This year I'm trying something a little different in hopes that it'll result in more fulfilling end results, but so far it's mostly been a pain in the ass.

I'm doing so terribly. I've also been working a ton of overtime, which probably doesn't help, but I'm just never in the mood to work on them unless I'm at work and can't.

I feel you, elipie! *hugs*
I'm having so much trouble with my vid that I actually had a couple of nightmares about it. Gah.
