BEING DONE WITH MY SECOND YEAR PAPER. It's half of the qualifying requirement in my PhD program (the other half being a four day exam from hell, ugh) and it's just a ball of stress. But mostly because our program chair decided I can finish by early December instead of late March like the rest of my cohort. And only told me that a couple weeks ago. Three months shaved off the deadline, FML.

Gah! Why did the program chair suddenly decide that it would be a good idea? *hugs*

I dunno. I suppose in some respects it's a good thing because it means I am (was?) close to having a passing paper and so don't need those three months. And it will be nice to only have to worry about classes + research in the winter. But still, a bit more of a heads-up would have been appreciated. Also not sure when I'm going to work on it now that Thanksgiving craziness has officially started. Have to go jewelry shopping with my dad for my mom's birthday gift...I forsee going to eight stores only to go back and buy something we found at the first.

dragonchicGees that sounds pretty classic. I'm with you in appreciating the benefits of just being done with things, but it's a hard push to get there.

I'm going to see Castor and Pollux at the English National Opera tonight. Baby's first opera. Hope I don't embarrass myself and fall asleep.

@obsessive24 That's why I envy you London people. There is always cool stuff going on.
I'm going to drive to a recording studio in a bit to help a friend who's recording a CD with some back-up singing and playing the sansula. It's just a tiny project, really, but I'm still ridiculously excited. I've never been to a recording studio before! I just wish the studio wasn't in the middle of nowhere; I have a 1 1/4h drive ahead of me. (Which you US folks will probably laugh at but for Germans, that's quite a distance ;D )

I'm going to see the Voca People's show in January. They are a fabulous a'capella singing ensemble from Israel. I'm really looking forward to see them. There will be a Christmas concert performed by one of my favourite (and old) Hungarians bands, the Kaláka. I go to watch them in (almost) every year, for ages. ;D They play a kind of folklore music, they often make music for poems, too.

I'm looking forward to the month of February! I'm moving across the country to LA and living with two girls I met through fandom, and am attending Escapade at the end of the month. Hopefully all of the exciting things will distract me from the daunting task of finding a job in my field.

Was it good Nicky or did you snooze? I took my husband to the ENO years ago to get him into Opera. There are times when I really miss living near to London. From here everything ends up being an overnight stay or long drive back. Anyhow I'm looking forward to school finishing on the 17th so we get to lie in a bit longer. No dragging 12yrs old out of their beds to get ready
