I love seeing the way everyone's artistic visions are kind of the voice that keeps pushing us to progress in tech and execution. Something else I've noticed is that the vision always seems to stay two steps ahead of the skill level, at least for me. So the more I learn about tech and execution, the more intimidatingly advanced my ideas seem to become. I can never seem to catch up to them.

Would suck if everything we wanted to achieve were immediately achievable, methinks.

I reckon that's a good thing, yah? Would suck if everything we wanted to achieve were immediately achievable, methinks. I'm just not a big fan of carrots on a stick. But they can be effective, right? I think I need a carrot on a stick for this vid idea I've been mulling over for the last several months. Without giving too many details, lemme just say that this vid involves lots of math. There are math concepts woven into the song, both with the music AND the lyrics. The same math concepts play heavily in the source itself. And I've also been thinking of using outside sources to highlight these math concepts. I pretty much know what statement I want to make with this vid, but the idea of going through all the sources I need makes me go D:. Then there's the actual editing part. How do I put this all together without scaring away the math phobes completely? Meep. Vidding is hard, yo!

Rho - I love that idea! As for potentially scaring mathphobes, is the math actually going to be so pertinent that you need to understand exactly what x^2 + y^2 = z^2 stands for and what it achieves, or is it more like, math is so important to the characters that I need to have scrolling equations across the screen, but it's not necessary that viewers understand it in order to understand the vid? Because if the latter, I wouldn't even worry about it. If it's the former... hmm, that's an interesting dilemma. Or I probably just entirely have the wrong end of the stick.
Bradcpu - my life is but a series of carrots on sticks. While munching the carrots I've got. And doing a little donkey dance, because I'm assuming in this scenario, we're all donkeys. ;D

I'm just not a big fan of carrots on a stick. I was walking to work and wondering why this was particularly niggling at me. I think it's because somehow you make it sound like you never get that carrot, and I don't think that's true. You continue to get and eat the carrot in front of you; it's just that subsequently, you get a new carrot to chase. And to me that's kind of the point - as long as you've got a carrot in your mouth already, it's pretty cool to chase after the next one. IMHO, anyway. ;D

Haha, depends on which way the carrot is aligned? I wouldn't recommend the dirty way.

Closer to the second, but it would be nice if viewers picked up on the general math concepts involved.

I have so many epic vids I want to do but have set aside. Most are super secret multifandom vids that just take a LONG time to find sources and clip (I may do one for CVV). There's also one meta type vid I want to do that requires a lot of After Effects which I still need to work on.
I will say that I've been waiting since 2003 to do an epic Clex vid that I wanted all ten seasons of source (I thought there'd be less originally...) to do and hopefully I should get that done in the next year or so. I think the reaction will be mixed but I'd really like to get it done as I personally love it.

Epic 10 season Clark/Lex vid would be amazing! Why do you think the reaction will be mixed?

Song choice and darkness mostly. There are some lyrics that will be hard to work with but I think I can can make it work.

anoel - A sprawling Clark/Lex vid would be awesome! Just managing to get through all that source would earn you brownie points from me. ;D
rhoboat - Math vid!! I'd be all over that. Plus I don't think the incorporation of math itself would be enough to scare away mathphobes. At the end of the day math is basically logic (IMO anyways) and there are usually ways to present even advanced concepts in a way that's accessible.
