*waves* hey all, I'm thedothatgirl on livejournal and most streaming sites, forums etc (the_do_that_girl - nothing to do at all with hats) although I do use my real name on the vid credits. I've been vidding since mid 2004 starting in the whedonverse and branching out into films and other TV fandoms in 2008. Struggled gamely for five years with WMM and now use ULEAD 11, although I covet the Sony Vegas effects so may add that to the Christmas list. To date I have made 72 vids. I also sketch, paint and play with photoshop. I have two personal sites - a Vidding one www.artofvidding.co.uk - Art of Vidding which houses my vids and also from where I run a Vidding Contest. My artwork and other fandom related content can be found at www.buffyandangelart.co.uk - Buffy And Angel Art. I live in the UK with my family and am lucky enough to work from a home office which allows me to indulge in vidding when its quiet.

Hi all! I'm Amy/such heights. My vids live here.I've been vidding since 2008, mostly in Doctor Who and previously for Torchwood and Merlin with a bit of lots of other fandoms. I live in the UK and graduated with a MA in Political Theory this summer. Still trying to get a job, which is ... joyous. Yeah. Still, I do have time on my hands for vidding at the moment, which is nice.

suchheights I admit I squeed when I saw your name here. "Five Year's Time" is like my favourite thing ever.
I mean, I started listening to Noah & the Whale because of that vid.

Hey guys! I'm amnisias, all my vids can be found at my website www.amnisias.com/index.htmland also on LJ amnisias.livejournal.com/friends/. I've been vidding in my head since at least 2000 but only got round to making an actual vid in 2009. I started on Sony Vegas Pro 9 and love it so much that I never tried anything else. My job tends to be crazy busy (I work with adolescents), and between that and RL stuff there isn't much time for vidding at all (hence the vidding in my head part, I can do that in the car.... ) and there are only 7 vids to my name as of yet. Fandom-wise Buffy, and by extension the Whedonverse, was my first love, but I've not yet vidded it. I watch a lot of TV with various levels of enthusiasm. However, once I commit myself I tend to be loyal and follow the show wherever it goes. Vidding-wise I prefer to vid in as many different fandoms as possible, which is part of the reason of why I'm rather slow (I have to start clipping 'from scratch' every time. So I guess it's fair to say that nowadays vidding is my fandom.

Hi, Thandie here! Short introduction: I'm 29, been vidding since 2006 and sort of a loner in the field, sadly enough.
Since I'm hoping to change this situation in the next future, let me make this sad, pathetic premise: I don't identify myself as a vidder the way most of you do (there, I said it was pathetic!) The reasons are multiple, and it's all basically my fault and the way I relate to others in this field, I've realised.
First of all, I've always had this horrible habit of not checking out other people's vids. Some times that's because I'm simply not interested in the fandom/material used, and well, that's really my loss but I feel it's justified. But most times I've realised that's because I feel a bit of an outsider, and because of that I think that my input/feedback/opinion would be of no interest to the vidder.
I don't really know why I reached this conclusion, maybe it came from a time I felt unappreciated or simply uninspired, but it's reached a point where I feel like I don't belong. And it's kind of sad because I like discussions and opinion sharing re: stuff I love!
To make it short: I'd love to sort of start a new way of connecting with you people and relating to the vidding process, in a way that makes me feel part of a group and maybe will also give me more experience and self-confidence and ability to share my opinions with others.
With LJ I feel it's not all that possible, maybe a comm like this, not too enormous and out of control, would be the right place. :)
PS: hey, I forgot to include some personal info to make this a bit more cozy!
Ok then, I've got a degree in Chem, been a researcher for a long time and have recently left the place because of very crappy health issues. Said health issues brought me to the realization that I want to try something new and different with my life, and I'm now attending an intensive one year web design course. I now cohabit with my dad and my brother, and it sort of works for all parts involved, even if I hope to feel better and move on soon. :)

Hi thedothatgirl! Funny, I never realised you used Ulead. It seems to be one of those programs that used to have a bigger vidder following but now it seems like hardly anyone's using it. How do you find it compared with WMM? Welcome Amy! Nice to see you around these parts. I've been vidding in my head since at least 2000 but only got round to making an actual vid in 2009. Lulz, I love that! ;D Hi thandie! I really hope that you won't feel like an outsider here and that you will come to know we definitely do appreciate your input and feedback (and vids, obviously). I don't know what happened to get you to that point but hopefully the pub will be a chance to unwind some of that. *hugs*

I'll definitely start to work on that, and this little vidding pub seems to be the right place. I don't know, LJ and similar gigantic sites intimidate me or something. <3

I've always called you Thandie in my head but I shall remember to call you Lu from now on! Thandie is ok too, but since I call you by name I thought it would be just fair for you to have the choice to reciprocate.

This sounds so familiar! I 'vidded' my first vid in my head, while I drove, for about two years before I got my head around the tech and started it for real. (It then took another year before it was completed! Lol! I vid slooooow! ) Jaz

@ winterjasmin: Most of the vids I've edited in my head never make it on the timeline, because it turns out that in my head I have footage that does not actually exist.

@ thandie: Hi there, you've been awfully quiet recently, hope you're feeling better soon.
Never knew you felt like this about vidding, I have always admired your stuff.
