There are of course always exceptions. Sometimes a clip with talkyface can look like it belongs with the song just as much as one without, and that's possible even without the vidder matching the mouth movements to the lyrics. It's rather difficult, and I haven't been brave enough to pull it off myself yet, but it's definitely possible and done. As for literalness, there are very wide and varying opinions on that. I don't think it's nearly as much of a widely-held opinion as disliking talkyface. Personally I like to pick and choose whether the lyrics apply to any given clip at the time, and just cross my fingers and hope it works overall. I haven't had any complains about this method. As for viewing, I enjoy all sorts of ways of interpreting the lyrics.

Don't we have a discussion going on literalness somewhere? Think it was the music vs lyrics thread. Might be useful to read some of the differing opinions on there, badfishmuser, if you're interested.

Hi atharriordan89 Welcome I share many of your favourite shows! Primeval, Doctor Who, Merlin, Sherlock, LotR, HP, to name a few I love stargazing too, I'm lucky to live out in the country though, so it's a bit easier than in London! Welcome to the forum *waves* Jaz

Welcome Nance and badfishmuser! Nance - out of interest, what are tags that you add in Premiere Elements? I've never heard of that term with reference to vids before. Sorry I meant adding a watermark for anti-clip theft! sorry for the confusion

Hi, I'm acridnym and I am very very introverted.
I'm perpetually late-to-the-party with fandoms (and with posting to forum threads). I started watching Buffy five or six years after it went off the air. Currently, I am making my way through season 1 of Fringe. I've been meaning to check out Homeland; I've heard great things about it and it has so many actors I like.
I've vidded The Graduate, Catch-22, Romeo+Juliet, Buffy, and Angel. I am not sure if I count as a beginner or intermediate vidder. I've never had a beta (so, I guess that counts as a mark under "beginner"). I've recently finished the first draft of two new vids: one is to the Rurouni Kenshin OVA and the other is to...um...Twilight. I'm debating with myself whether to ask for a private beta or be brave and do the public beta thing.
I appreciate what a welcoming atmosphere Nicky and everyone else have created.

Welcome acridnym! Hope you enjoy it here. I just rewatched Luhrmann's Romeo & Juliet the other day on a plane... just as awesome as I remember. ;D And! Rurouni Kenshin AND Twilight! Somehow that combination fills me with joy. (I've seen Samurai X but I think Kenshin is not quite the same thing? My anime knowledge is laughably non-existent.)

Hi acridnym! I'm perpetually late-to-the-party with fandoms (and with posting to forum threads). I started watching Buffy five or six years after it went off the air. LOL I'm a bit the same. I got into Buffy and Angel late, and Stargate about 7 seasons in. I guess one advantage to that is that you know it's not going to get cancelled on you after half a season, since there's already five or six or seven out on DVD. ;D

I'm notoriously bad with that kind of thing, too ;D I'm always late to the party.

Hey, there! I'm Fabella (... or wistful_fever, if you are going by LJ). I'm multifannish, though I'm currently fascinated mostly by Supernatural, Glee, Community, Merlin, and White Collar. I've been vidding for a few or more years now, though I still feel like a newbie to it half the time because I can learn the technical stuff one day and it's out of my head the next like so many algebra equations from school days. I follow my vidding urges. That's probably my biggest downfall and greatest strength as a vidder all in one. I vid what I want, when I want, and have no ability to make myself vid where my heart isn't in it... even if it was in it in the beginning. I have quite a few unfinished vids piled up in the folders on my computer. The last vid I'm working on is White Collar, and it is a BIG DEAL. Or so it wants to be. I just think Matt Bomer is gorgeous to vid, and Tim Dekay carries the weight of the vid on his massively capable shoulders. So, yes, hi! I flit in and out of existence fannishly. I'm mostly a lurker
