The idea of a con dedicated to fanvids intrigues me But the US is too far away, I'm afraid (let's not mention the one time I flew to a US Supernatural con, okay? ). I can't pull that off financially. A UK con is much closer...

Vidukon is not on in 2012 but there's murmurings for trying to put it on in 2013, if someone in the UK is willing to organise it, so hopefully it'll go ahead.

Oooh! Well, I may be tempted to go then ;D Then again, I usually go to the UK filk convention and then the two German ones, so I might be tight financially. But we'll see. Maybe I'll be rich and famous by then...(yeah, I know )

Vidukon sounds more affordable to me, too.
legoline: which German conventions are you planning to go? I was at FedCon in this year and the year before, first time ever.

valika, I was referring to the two German filk cons. They're small-ish events I was planning on going to FedCon because Düsseldorf is not far from me, but I had no time I used to go to RingCon but ever since they started inviting the True Blood and other vampire folks the con has lost its appeal to me. I keep hoping for The Hobbit.

legoline: RingCon, yes. I'm also not interested in vampire shows and movies. I keep hoping for The Hobbit, too!

I'm hoping some things for work pan out so that I can afford to make it in 2012. Unless THE END OF THE WORLD happens first.

A friend just reminded me I have Olympics tickets for August. *headdesk* I checked and they are for Thurs 2nd and Sun 5th, so I'm hoping VVC won't be the weekend of 3rd - 5th. I can probably still make the weekend after, though. Busy, busy.

Yup! We didn't get anything in the first round of allocations, but managed to get a couple of events from the second chance draw. We're going to see Judo and Boxing... qualifiers, I think. But maybe one is a quarter-final of some description.

Exciting!! ;D One of my classmates is taking the year off to try to qualify for a running event. And lol, my conference is August 3-7 so that's also the weekend I can't go. Joining you in hoping for a different date!

I'm really hoping I can make it! I had so much fun this year and would pretty much do anything to be able to go again. The only problem is that I'm moving across the country and job-hunting, so as long as I can keep the money for VVC set aside, I will be there.

I'm envious fo you stateside folk for which this isn't a 9 hour transatlantic ordeal. ;D
dragonchic - I'm surprised that qualifying doesn't happen earlier! When will they know?
