Oh I haven't heard of that shop! Must check it out next time I'm in the neighbourhood. I'm in the process of procuring my dream bracelet via a US friend at the moment (as it's not available in the UK) so will definitely post some pics when I receive it. Can't wait. I'm very much the same! I wore a lot of black - well, still do, but now I try and spice it up with accessories. And, so much yes that it does take effort and of course there are people who don't really understand why you'd go to the effort, but like you said, life's too short to not do it, and if it makes you feel good, then that's enough of a reason to do it. I don't really see any difference between this and vidding or any other artistic pursuit - it's just that the canvas is yourself. That's a great Nigel quote! very well said. I don't remember it from the movie. I've been meaning to rewatch all of Ugly Betty and actually pay attention to the clothes this time. ;D

You should! I love that shop. They have the cutest purses. Ach. I must go to London again sometime. And yes, post pictures please! Hmmm, maybe I should take pictures of some of my stuff, too...provide each other with eye candy I don't really see any difference between this and vidding or any other artistic pursuit - it's just that the canvas is yourself. *nods* That's exactly the way I see it. Clothes and style are a form of expressing yourself just as much as painting, or vidding, or writing. On that note, I still need to find boots/ankle boots so I can wear all my shiny skirts instead of my jeans. Ha! Now I feel like watching these movies with well-dressed people, too And "She's All That" (There should totally be a vid for these kinds of films)

Yay! Will do...Friday perhaps as I've got two busy days ahead ;D It was this teen film about a character played by Freddie Prinze Junior who accepts the bet of making the school's ugly duck (played by Rachel Leigh Cook) prom queen. It's a bit cheesy but I love it, and she gets a makeover in the process. As you do But, I kind of liked the theme of becoming who you could be by not completely turning into someone else. Sort of. So. Maybe just a vid with cool fashionable women who wear whatever they want to wear and look awesome.

So. Maybe just a vid with cool fashionable women who wear whatever they want to wear and look awesome. Haha. I tend to find with those types of movies/shows (Devil Wears Prada, Ugly Betty... hmm, can't think of any more of the top of my head, but I'm sure there's more) there's a common theme in that the heroine starts out completely uninterested in fashion and thinks it's vapid and beneath her, but she recognises over the course of the story that there is value in it. Which is a nice little arc. It'd be nice to include SatC footage too, because of all the shiny, but that is probably harder to integrate thematically because the leads are sort of already in that place when they started. Plus the way they spend money on fashion veers too much into viewer wish fulfilment territory... especially in the movies, which I sort of just watched with my mouth hanging open.

Unless you use the footage to contrast the girl and how she initially is? I don't know I was also just thinking, there should be a vid dedicated to famous attires and accessoiries--like Dorothy's red shoes, the Doctor's scarf/Chucks/bow tie, Rose's diamond from Titanic, Indiana Jones's hat and whip, maybe various super hero costumes...

Hehe, that's a neat idea. I remember dualbunny made a tribute vid to Spike's coat once. That was awesome.
lolachrome (who'd signed up here, but hasn't posted yet, the lurker) went through a huge Chanel bag phase so I was vaguely contemplating making a Chanel bag vid for her somehow. Like, clips from The OC and Gossip Girl and other sources of Chanel bags in action, plus some really zoomed-in detail images that you can pull off the Chanel site, essentially just bag porn. ;D That would have been cool if I could have pulled it off, but I'm not game enough to try just yet.

That's awesome--both the coat vid and the idea of making a vid dedicated to Chanel bags

OMG massive lulz. I was just randomly bidding on another pair of Louboutins on eBay thinking I'd never get them for the price I was offering, because they're sold out in shops and this pair is completely unworn. And then for some reason nobody bidded against me and now apparently I own another pair! ;D It's the same style as the other one (Simple 70s), but this pair's black patent. I'm a bit, like, wut, but pleased too, since I managed to get these at about 70% of market price. \o/

Eeeee, that's excellent! \0/ I wish I had your luck This is a pai of shoes I got in London from Irregular Choice when I was there in July for the Harry Potter premiere: I'd stared at the pair for months online and then when I went into the shop the shoe was on sale \0/ Still on the pricey side, but...look how pretty they are! Unfortunately not shoes I could wear to work but I love them. A lot I feel like Dorothy or Alice when I wear them.

Haha, I do seem to have weird "luck" when I bid on ebay. Or maybe I mean "bad luck", because I always end up spending money...
I love these shoes zomg! They are adorable! I feel like you have to put them on and then go dance around a maypole or something.

I'll call it plain luck Thank you! Haha, yes, they're these kinds of shoes. Whenever I put them on I half expect the animals to start talking to me and the world to switch to technicolor ;D

Nice shoes, Nicky and legoline! Lucky girls you are!
A video about bags/coat/shoes would be a great fun anyway! Anyone volunteering to make this? ;D
