I was vidding today and noticed something I was doing I know I have done before and was wondering if anyone else has done the same ever. I was making a video and it went a TOTALLY different direction than I originally planned. Not by accident, I sort of intended those clips, they just ended up telling the story slightly different than I envisioned. I wondered what other stories people have

I did a vid of the live action movie of Crying Freeman. I read the manga years ago and have always found it totally hilarious for how over the top it is. The movie is just as bad, but somehow my vid is more pretty than funny. I totally missed the camp potential.

My latest Covert Affairs vid totally ran away from me. Happens when you start vidding after seeing two episodes and don't know how the season is gonna pan out. It's always weird when I try to force a structure onto a relationship that doesn't have a defined arc; I feel like I have to make one for the sake of the vid, so I end up pulling it all out of my ass.
Happened earlier this year with a vid for Bedrooms and Hallways too. There was a fantastic 3-some tension throughout the movie, which sort of just... fizzled out in the end. But I was so adamant that I keep my OT3 that I just made up the vid ending as I went along.

I have this friend who vids and when I told her I was going off track, she acted like it was the worst thing ever. I don't even know, those clips just fitted with the lyrics and when it was done, it was meant to be a character originally and looked like more of a shipper :/

The vid I'm working on right now was supposed to be an ensemble vid, but then two characters immediately went NO, MINE. So I was like, ok guys it's yours, go nuts. It'll be a better vid than the one I was planning anyway.

Okay, I started this nice Gwen vid for Merlin, that was meant as a 'Fuck you, Arthur, what did you ever do to deserve the highroad in 4x09?' And suddenly I'm halfway to the place of, 'Yeah, being your beard, wasn't really cutting it, Arthur.' *face palm* I mean I would love to do that beard-vid, but not really to that song. It's much too light-hearten for such a serious theme.

I think these two themes are too close together to really merit two vids, even when the subtle difference is huge. There were vids in my past, I felt much more like doing two versions of a vid. ;D

astarte I think you're all talk. You always go down the wrong way get back on track (or keep to the new direction) and never do the second vid. I'm still waiting on your Deadwood Bullock/Al vid. But my vid shifting happens to me all the time. My remix of Astarte's Angel-Connor Numb and it ended up being more 'abusive Angel' then I had expected.

Because I always think, that something deserves a vid on its own, while scrubbing through my source. That's why I am highly motivated to vid ten things as soon as I vid - If I actually go through with it once I finish my project is written on another page.
Actually I was less surprised about 'Numb' - I was pretty sure you would go there without hesitation.

Well you were around through the whole process. Can't believe you vidded faster than me there. But you know me I go with the flow when I get stuck.
Oh I know, and you spend so much time going through source, takes you longer to do that then vid. But you have great ideas. I think sometimes I take them.

I'm always happy if you adopt some, because then I know that they will see the daylight and will not be stuck in my head to wither and die.
I have no idea, why I always end up with Multiseason source - It's like I love to punish myself for an unknown crime. Besides, I'm just paranoid that I'll miss the perfect clip for any vid at any given time.
