The pilot of "Ringer" did nothing for me (it felt like they just piled up the clichés to boost up the drama) but I hear it gets better after that?

The pilot of "Ringer" did nothing for me (it felt like they just piled up the clichés to boost up the drama) but I hear it gets better after that? Depends on how you define "better". ;D It becomes a really enjoyable soap opera for me. The cliches don't go away, but it's just the style of the show. It's never gonna become a serious highbrow show, but I think you can tell that from the pilot. Thanks for the book recaps Natalie! Off to check them out.

Did someone mention New Girl a couple days ago? That's another one I love. Like pretty much everyone who watches it, I started watching for Zooey Deschanel, but the character interaction is what kept my attention. All I've ever wanted in life is a show where everybody is each other's bro, and New Girl is filling that hole in my heart. Yes, yes, exactly! ;D This show has become one of my favourites so far whih I really didn't expect to happen. @obsessive24: ah, okay then

There's still cliches but I feel they aren't piled on, just help make it interesting. As obsessive24 said, it feels like an enjoyable soap opera (wich is saying something for me, I hate soap operas) and SMG said it's meant to be part soap opera so..... I find the plot twists interesting and while cliche sometimes, it is interesting enough to keep me watching.

xitsmymindx I just remember from the pilot that not only was Bridget an alcoholic posing as a party girl, she also had an affair with another guy, a step daughter who did drugs and of course the whole thing with Siobhan disappearing. When it turned out Siobhan was pregnant (and Bridget was not, of course) I just stopped watching. It was too much cliché drama. I had no idea that it's supposed to be a soap opera, though. I guess that explains a lot.

Hmm, based on comments I might save my bandwith on Grimm and try Once Upon A Time instead.

RIGHT NOW I'm watching Clueless. ;D ;D Love, love, love! My teenage wish fulfilment movie, let me show you it. Rewatching now, it really feels like the early 90s teen equivalent of SatC for older women in the 2000s - good friends, good clothes, good food, (good sex), gay best friends. ;D

I'm watching Revenge right now. I started less than 24 hours ago, worked all day today, and am already on the 6th episode, if that tells you how addicting it is.

I think I need to give Revenge a chance. The first couple reviews I skimmed were not very complimentary, so I figured it wasn't worth the time. However - everything I've heard since then has indicated that I need to watch it. So it will probably go on my list.

I don't have class till 2 tomorrow so I am watching a JDrama called 1 Litre of Tears. It's very sad and I cry every ep but it's 1 of my fav shows ever, is based on a true story about a girl who gets sick with some weird-ass disease. Everything starts to degenerate: walking, talking, writing, eating, everything. I think the saddest part is when she has to give up basketball. She loves it and is really good but can't run. It is so touching

I wasn't really into at first because Zooey's character was just too out there and really grated but now that they've toned her down and started to focus more on the interactions among all the roommates it's way much fun. Schmidt is hilarious, even if I'd never want to actually live with someone like him. ;D

dragonchic Wheee! ;D I'm so glad they toned Jess down a little. Also, as much as I love Zooey, in the beginning it did feel like she was basically playing an exaggerated version of herself but either I'm just getting used to her or they've actually turned Jess into a real character, because she no longer screams "Zooey!" at me so much. I really love that the show is as much about the guys as it is about Jess, and that Winston, Schmidt and Nick aren't just some doofy douchebags trying to get her into bed. As much as I love Schmidt, I think Nick is my favourite. He's so adorably grumpy all the time. Like Gruffy from the Gummibears. xitsmymindx It was a sweet episode
