My achilles heel - reading this forum when I should be actually making that vid....
Perhaps rushing a vid out in the past when I should have been a bit more particular. Perhaps I should tweak a bit more. I'm conscious of it now and try really hard not to be in a god awful hurry as I just know in a months time if I rewatch it, I'll face palm over all those little things I should have fixed.

Cuts or transitions that are too damn fast - and too many of them. I always do this in sections of my vid, when I'm alone with a project for too long and have no idea why. Okay, I have an idea, because it looks cool when you scroll through your preview, but there is no way in hell that a viewer will catch every single frame. So this is the stuff I undo most of the time or fiddle around till it looks like intentional flowing images.

To me, that doesn't sound like a problem at all. It actually sounds like you're getting to a more advanced level of musicality where you're not a slave to the percussion alone, but are aware of multiple layers of musicality that need addressing. I think there's a fine line between actually lacking a certain ability to do something and just developing one's own style. I've thought this a couple of times while reading posts here--I think some things you can work on, like focusing on getting first verses and the ending right, but other things I feel are really just preferences and not really flaws or Archille's heels at all

That's a good point. There are some things I'm never going to be able to do well but mostly because that's just not who I am as a vidder. I suppose I could improve if I really made an effort, but the economist in me says it's more efficient for people to focus on their comparative advantage.

but the economist in me says it's more efficient for people to focus on their comparative advantage. Haha, I like how you put that. I'm gonna steal that impressive wording for next time.

The elements that persistently comes up in positive feedback, maybe? I never feel that I'm particularly good at any particular thing, but apparently I have good narrative structures, or at least that's what I've been led to believe from various comments. It always feels like a chicken and egg scenario: maybe you get told that you're good at [x], it encourages you so you focus on being good at [x], and before you know it you are actually good at [x]. Positive reinforcement for the win. ;D

Yes, that's probably the best form to gauge what you're best at though I bet sometimes it can be frustrating when you get clashing opinions. *lol*

I hate things that are "overdone", I ALWAYS look on yt to see if there is anything remotely LIKE what I wanna do.
I also hate when people have a random song and a bunch of clips in no particular order, like "okay what's the point in this vid?". I mean when people write random things, it is known as badfic, vids are no different

I used to have multiple betas, and one would tell me one thing that they loved and to never change it, and the other would tell me that the same thing needed work. I've since just kept my favorite beta, because getting 3rd, 4th, and 5th opinions that all clash doesn't really help. My Achilles' Heel is both terrible and wonderful, and it's that my brain is an idea machine. It's awesome that I can think of ten really good ideas per day and be so excited to vid them that I have to rush to my computer to start working on them, but unfortunately most of those don't get past the clipping stage (if they even get that far) because the next day I've thought of an ~even better idea that I want to work on first. It's an endless cycle.

Comedy.
In my head: Epic hilarity. In my vid: pretty visuals that don't make people laugh.

Now that definitely WAS epic hilarity. OMG. One of my absolute favourites from Premieres. Just a perfect storm of comedy vidding meets con atmosphere. It went over SO WELL. I can't imagine comedy vidding ever being your Achilles' heel. ;D

That one did turn out exactly like I wanted, but the minute I try to include any canon plot or do anything slightly longer, I get all distracted by the narrative and end up not making it funny enough.
