Oh cool! Raleigh is very nice, probably my favorite of the Triangle cities. I went to Duke, whose host city sadly doesn't compare, lol. NC State is actually coming to play my grad school in basketball this season. Granted, Stanford's basketball team is nothing to write home about, but the Blue Devil in me is going to go anyways to throw some good natured heckling at the Wolfpack. But for the sake of ACC hoops I'm kind of hoping State beats Stanford, shhhh.

I'm in the US from the NYC area. Currently live in the suburbs but my grad school is in NYC itself. I lived in upstate NY in college but have actually not lived in another state!
I have been to Budapest! I liked it a lot. I was on a whirlwind tour of Central Europe, unfortunately, so didn't get to stay long, but it was a highlight of the trip.

It's fascinating to see how many different parts are vidders from at this place!
par: Budapest has a lots of nice parts indeed. I'M glad you enjoyed your stay in my hometown. I visited New York City once - when I was young. It was an interesting experience, I've never seen skycrapers before. I liked the city very much, but I can't imagine I would be able to live there.

I was born in Croydon in England and moved to New Zealand at age 2. I live in Auckland, the largest city. I've been a lot of places since we came here (Australia, Fiji, New Caledonia, South Africa, Singapore, Los Angeles, England, France, Switzerland) but only for short visits.

Hi, fellow Philadelphian! *waves*
I was born here, I spent a year in South Korea teaching, and then another year in the country of Georgia doing the same thing. I'm back Stateside, and hoping to go to grad school *somewhere*.

How did you find Korea voodoochild? Would you recommend it as a travel destination?

Nicky - It depends where you're going and what you're looking to do. South Korea's a gorgeous country, lots of mountains in the north, lots of beaches and a few islands in the south. Seoul itself is awesome - New York huge, with a lot to see and do. I loved living in Daegu because it was so close to Busan and the beach, as well as all the Buddhist temples.
Plus, it's only an hour flight to Japan or China or the Philippines. All kinds of stuff to see and do there. But for best vacation destination, I have to go with Vietnam - it's just stunning, a lot of amazing sights and places to go.

I have family in China so I go there occasionally, but we don't usually do touristy stuff. It's so close to Japan and Korea though that I feel like I'd be wasting a long-haul if I didn't go on to do other stuff as well. I'd always figured I'd visit Japan rather than Korea, but Korea seems like it would be cool too...
Vietnam should be fantastic to visit. I definitely plan to visit some SE Asia countries, but since we're from New Zealand and are currently in the UK, it makes more sense for us to put it off until we're back home, since it's closer. In the meantime I shall have to console myself with mini trips to European destinations. ;D

Both countries are very similar, IMO. I haven't spent too much time in Japan - just a day or so in Tokyo - but Tokyo and Seoul are only distinguishable by the language. They also both feel very much like New York. Oh, much closer if you're from NZ. I always wish I'd gotten down to NZ and Australia when I was on that side of the world. I did get to Japan and Vietnam, which was awesome. Jealous. I've never been to anywhere in Europe (except for Poland for a layover, and let me tell you, Warsaw Airport is BORING), and I've been dying to go.

New Zealand if there are good job opportunities, otherwise probably Melbourne or Sydney. If you end up in Australia we should totally hang out. ;D

Absolutely! A while ago there was some talk about having an antipodean vid con of some sort, but I don't think it panned out...
