Since it's November and I put all my vidding on hold until December 1st I was wondering if anyone else here is doing NaNoWriMo like me? I somehow got really far ahead but I know when I edit it later it's gonna get alot smaller.

I'm not doing it, but I'll stand on the sidelines and cheer everybody on. ;D

Yes, much cheerleading! One day I'll have the time and mental capacity, but once again it is not this year.

This will be my fourth year. Well technically 5th but the first time I tried to do it, in 2005, I only got 7,000 words. I've gotten much better.

I only did it one year, 06 I think. Slammed down a huge rambly chunk of my epic fic which then took something like 3 years to gradually clean up and release by instalments. ;D I think technically you're supposed to write original fiction, right? But I'm too unimaginative for that...

yep original, sequel to the book I wrote for the last 3 years. Technically that makes me a nano 'rebel' but i only like to write competitively.

That's brilliant! Have you shown it to other people?

It made it to the semi-finals of a contest. I'm planning on self-publishing through amazon when I finish getting a good start on the second book. I kinda leave the whole thing on a cliff hanger.

*clap clap* You're so motivated! It's such an admirable thing to have a tangible achievement like that. I'm inspired now. Maybe I should make it my goal to do Nano next year and come up with a book idea in the meantime... ;D

It drives my mother crazy, that it takes it being November to actually write. unitl she realizes that it turns me into an insecure, emotional wreck and then she realized why I have to compartmentalize when i write.

xandra Wow! Well done! Keep rocking the word count ;D
I've done Nano twice... only won it the once when I was working in Japan and had waaaaaaaay too much free time on my hands. I've kept kind of working at the story, though my inclination is to expand things far beyond my capacity to actually carry them through, so I've been fighting the "nooo--this needs to be a series!" idea (laughs).

I was doing NaNoWriMo but I dropped out for personal reasons last weekend. Shame, I was already at 20,000 words

It does take practice. legoline That was a great start, sorry you had to drop out. rokikurama well this idea used to be a television show idea I had while in school. It's already out of control.

Hee hee gotcha. Glad to hear I'm not the only one with crazy long plotlines trying to burst out, although it sounds like you're much better at externalizing them onto the page than I am!
I'm a little curious... is your Nano in line with the kinds of things you vid? Or is it totally different?

I was a tv: writing/producing major in college so I had the training to get it out on paper. It sucks though, I was always a better writer when I was in school, writing when I should have been studying other things. Now while I should be writing I keep having to fight the urge to teach myself Spanish.
So the things I write vs the things I vid... well it's sci-fi, the pilot (in my mind at least) was a buffyish style. A girl's mother dies she goes to live with her father and step mother in a small town where it turns out most of the town shares a duel life in a pocket dimension, that she stumbles into after some tourist have gone missing.
It's a lot more complicated but that's the heart of the original idea.
