I think they tried to tone down the blood for the young adult peeps--also that bit at the end struck me as way less horrifying without the hair (trying not to be spoiler-ish!).
Overall, I thought it was a pretty good translation, as these things go. The fire was fantastic, and I liked the idea of the game-makers all sitting at computer screens inputting disasters even though I'd hoped for more footage of people watching.

Yeah, the one thing that really quite disappointed me was how they didn't really play up the whole reality TV concept as much as they should have, IMO.

I think I'm going to wait until it comes out on DVD - that way if it's too shaky for me I can pause and make a cuppa while the world stops spinning. It strikes me, in my search for the ultimate Finnick, just how few current actors I know these days. I did see Taylor Kitsch discussed somewhere. I don't know him, but a Google image search did turn up some mighty nice pics, and he appears to be much as I imagined Finnick in my head. Someone also suggested Adam Baldwin for Boggs, which I thought would be pretty good.

Taylor Kitsch is faaaar too much FNL's Riggins in my mind so I can't see him as Finnick at all. I actually really want Finnick to be a complete unknown just so we can all have something new to drool over. I am having a complete mind blank who Boggs is?

Boggs was Coin's right-hand-man. He led the team when they went to 8 and also for the final assault.
Taylor is a total unknown to me, lol, but it would be nice to find some new talent. Although now I think about it more, I REALLY want Finnick to be played by Karl Urban.

Same here. And he played Gambit in "Wolverine". The other two would be fine for me, I guess. I've never heard of these people so at least I wouldn't instantly compare them to their other roles...

Armie Hammer was the twins in The Social Network, and the prince in the current Mirror Mirror, and he was briefly on Gossip Girl I think. Garrett Hedlund was in Tron Legacy. Both are cute! I was actually thinking maybe Armie Hammer would work earlier. I still wish they found a complete unknown though.
