I really hope yall don't think I'm a vid snob or something. I've been watching Youtube vids for so long that I may be a lil jaded, lol. My apologies. Not at all! Everybody gets jaded after watching a lot. (Or at least everybody gets bored of so-so vids about subjects they don't care about.)

Sooo good to hear. Some of the comments on youtube are quite frustrating. I really hate to see mediocrity (or absolute garbage) get thousands of view and positive comments, while beauty and wonder get so little attention.
And then there's those who really do have potential, but I hesitate to offer constructive criticism in the fear they might take it the wrong way, after they've gotten so much 'OMG! you just made me cry! srsly this is my fave vid evar!' *sigh*

I really hate to see mediocrity (or absolute garbage) get thousands of view and positive comments, while beauty and wonder get so little attention. I get really angry at that too. Well, at least what I consider to be mediocre and overhyped vs beautiful and wonderous. Clearly - based on those comments if nothing else - other people (perhaps even a great majority of people) have different ways of measuring such things. ;D At the same time, it's clearly not just something that's specific to vidding or even the creative arts; I think it happens pretty much everywhere for everything that has even a whiff of subjective evaluation standards, so it's hard for me to stay very angry for very long. Instead I just get into a sulk about why my views on what's awesome can't be the golden standard for all people. ;D That's something I gotta change when I am queen of the world, heheheh.

I really hate to see mediocrity (or absolute garbage) get thousands of view and positive comments, while beauty and wonder get so little attention. Ha ha ha. That's youtube for you! I have no shame: I love watching bad slide shows of my favorite characters set to questionable choices of music. I love that Youtube gives a forum to that outpouring of love. I love that Youtube is there for those that want it. But I think any place that aims to have serious discussions of vids (here, various communities on livejournal, the many other vidding forums past and present, VividCon) will tend to turn a jaundiced eye on the sort of technically dubious, plebe-y joy that's all over on Youtube. You can safely assume that this type of frustration is the norm, not the exception 'round these parts.
