That's very informative, Jan! Thanks for sharing. Charmax - why do you have to dress up in ninja gear for Zumba? ;D Fabella - go you! Sorry to hear about the injury though. You don't strike me as being a competitive person so it's funny to read this and imagine you as ruthless Bootcamp!bitch. I'm actually the opposite and thinking about quitting my gym membership once it comes out of restriction in a month or so. Ever since we moved offices in November, I've been walking a lot more to/from work (now it's about 35 mins either way, when it used to be 15 mins). Knowing there's that much walking to do has made me much less keen to hit the gym on the way home, so I don't feel like I'm getting good value out of my £56 per month membership. We also have a pool in our apartment building I should make more use of, so I might quit the gym for a couple of months and see if brisk walking/swimming by itself is sufficient for my needs. Might be that I'll need to get some free weights later on.

I am SO proud of myself. This morning I ran 4km outdoors in around 30 mins and given I am only 5'0 with very short legs this is fast. And I've never really run before. WOOP! That couch to 5k program? I don't think I need it.

Way to go, Charmax!
I just signed up yesterday for my first 5k of the year. It's at the end of March, but you have to register for it within a day of registration opening up because now for two years in a row, it's sold out in a day. My first biking event is a month after that. So at some point this winter I'll have to leave the comfy warmth of the gym...but probably not until that last week of March. I love cold weather, I hate exercising in it.

Jansam & barkley, thanks!
And good luck to you barkley on your upcoming events! Sounds like hard work with one after the other. I'd love to take part in "Tough Mudder" one day but it's probably just a pipe dream. Those people are seriously fit.
