Hmmm, my Firefox/IE tells me the URLS don't work...? That's because they don't, indeed...thanks for letting me know. For now you can simply copy and paste in the address bar, I'll go and fix the issue in a moment! ETA: now they work!

For now you can simply copy and paste in the address bar I actually tried that but IE was still acting wonky--but that may just have been IE Anyways. I think of all the 70's/80's shows I grew up with this must be one of the few I've never actually seen, so I can't give you any real concrit, I'm afraid. I really liked the vid, though, particularly the intro and the playful mood. Looks like it was a fun show! (And OMG was that Jeff Goldblum I spotted in one of the scenes?)

I found it really entertaining to watch. I don't know anything about S&H so don't really have much more observation beyond that... but I liked the way it was edited together and thought it gave off a great sense of their camraderie.
You know I would give honest criticism if I had anything to say, but in this instance, I felt like my lack of knowledge of source, and the lighthearted "here's all the moments that I love" structure of the vid, I couldn't find much to crit. I couldn't really see a narrative progression where the relationship develops from A to B, but I don't think the vid intended to have one, so that's not a criticism, you know? And on the technical side of things, I thought the editing and pacing were all really well handled, especially for an old show that's more visually static than modern shows.

Legoline: that was absolutely Jeff Goldblum! There are a lot of famous actors guest starring on this show. Melanie Griffith is also in this video. I'm glad you liked it! Tbh the only intent of this video was to show the lighthearted moments in the relationship, so I suppose you don't need to know much else about S&H to catch that. And yeah, it was a funny show indeed, even with all the faults that such old shows all seem to have. Nicky: thank you! The editing can be tricky for this show, for exactly the reason you mentioned. Absolutely static scenes, stunt doubles everywhere and crappy direction (in this show it really was crappy) make for a hell of a work to select the good shots. But hey, I was obsessed.

omg, you know, I'm not sure if I ever commented on this vid before -- probably not, because I suck -- but I absolutely adore it. I watched it over and over back when I first stumbled across it on LJ, and now I'll probably have to watch it a few more times. I've never really sat down and watched Starsky & Hutch, but this is a vid that makes me love them.
In response to your request for honest criticism, I think the very first time I watched this vid, it seemed a little too long? It felt like it needed to be a 3 minute vid more than a 4 minute vid. But it's such a sly, cute vid that the "extra" minute didn't drag -- and obviously the length of the vid didn't bother me at ALL for my subsequent 23184 viewings, hee.

I've never really sat down and watched Starsky & Hutch, but this is a vid that makes me love them. In response to your request for honest criticism, I think the very first time I watched this vid, it seemed a little too long? Thank you so much for the compliment (that you liked this even without knowing well the show. ) and most of all for the honest criticism! It's indeed a mistake I've done in many occasions, especially in the past: not cutting down the song where it's needed. In this case I felt it drags less than other past times, but yes, you are definitely right that time is of the essence when it comes to a video. Tearful Eye: Thank you so much! As much as the show can be sort of lacking in some aspects (at least IMO), the adorableness of the couple is undisputed. The length could have been indeed shortened, and I appreciate so much that you let me know so. Maybe this time I felt I wasn't risking being too boring because the song it's uplifting and fun, but one's gotta always consider that the viewer doesn't live in your head and might think differently. Thank you!

Aww. This is so cute.
I do like S&H, but I'm just not as passionate about it as the core of the fandom. I often have trouble appreciating S&H vids because the norm seems to be those "10 greatest moments" style ones, and it's common for them to include the same episodes and even the very same shots. (When I get around to vidding S&H again, I will not be using the ear-blowing shot, for example. It works as well here as in any other vid I've seen, but it's in about 90% of S&H vids, so it gets boring.)
I liked how quick your editing was. That really helped distinguish it from other S&H vids with similar subject matter. It started losing me around 2:26 where the music changes and I found your clip choices less memorable. For me, that slower section didn't work as well as the faster parts.
I love the choice of music and the general humorous interpretation of the lyrics (e.g. what "the best" is). I did like your use of the super overused and cliched dipping shot to end the vid with. At the end like that, I felt more like you were choosing it because it's well-known. (Where the ear-blowing felt more like you were choosing it, like everyone does, because it's a good clip.)

This is so adorable Thandie! I love all the parallels and it's so interesting to see the sensibilities of a new school vidder applied to an old school fandom. Couldn't help but smile throughout it.

Oh, man. Okay, I'm still catching up on a lot of these threads, and—jeez, I ADORE this vid. So many moments I didn't remember! So many cute jokes, and Starsky shimmying to the music, and the song choice! Cracking me up that the guy's name is Hutchinson, but the music is really perfect. That funk beat is awesome for them. Lots of clips I haven't seen before. And it really moves—makes me want to dance. Makes me want to watch the whole show again, too! I might even forgive you for including mime clips, because this vid is just that awesome and adorable.
If I were betaing this, I'd have only one critique, and that's that I was ready for the vid to be ending at 3:20. That last sequence doesn't add much, for me, and I found myself wanting to go back to the beginning of the vid and watch it again instead of sitting still for the last part.
I love the care taken with all the jokes, like "you deserve the best" -- great payoff, and I LoLed. The hand gesture for "your mind" -- perfect. Your body is a temple, hee. Most of all, I appreciate the way you took such care with the rhythm of the internal movement. It feels so natural with the song. Thank you for posting this!
