LOKI! \o/ Can I have a Tom Hiddleston for Xmas? I'm also listening to his audiobook lately because I can never have enough of his voice.

Hehe, I started googling him and then got freaked out when I realised that isn't his natural hair colour. Also, curls? WTF? That's not what I signed on for! ;D
He is out and about in the UK, though? Maybe I'll be able to see him in a play sometime. That would be quite cool.

I'm not familiar with the film but the vid still worked for me--beautiful song, too. I guess I'll have to learn how to give "proper" and more detailed feedback (maybe I can learn that here ;-) ) but I really enjoyed the video.

Thank you very much! I don't think there's a "proper way" of feedback per se, but I was saying over in the feedback discussion thread that I do feel that maybe there is a way to give feedback so that it resonates more deeply between both vidder and viewer and fosters that sense of connection, and maybe that's something we could collectively strive towards.

I read your posts about giving feedback and I definitely agree. It's just that I'm so new to vidding that I feel very self-conscious about commenting on narrative or technique, so I tend to just go, "I really liked that one!"
That's what I meant by "learning how to do it" -- I hope that discussion with other vidding people (since I'm fairly insulated at my LJ) will help understand these things better and help me to give better feedback, too.

I totally adored this video. I loved the opening with the size of the scenes and the motion...guh. I am a motion junkie. And when I first watched this movie, no one else around me could understand why I felt Loki was so damned *tragic*. So yeah. Awesome video.

I have long been impressed with the way you use landscapes and objects in your work and dang, this is no exception. There's a really good sense of Loki's feeling of isolation and rejection exploding to rage.

Oh wow. Okay. *gathers thoughts from across the room* Okay. That's no good. I'll just have to watch it again Okay. Firstly I should say I have never seen this - is it a film? So it was a little like Stranger in a Strange Fandom for me. Which is cool, I loved the time that I participated in that, and sometimes I watch vids for shows I don't know because the experience is so different, as a vid watcher, than when you watch a vid from a show you know like the back of your hand. Secondly, wow. I think I read you didn't often get an emotional reaction to your vids, well I don't know about your other vids, but this was emotions all the way for me here! For me, as a stranger to the show, this vid was about brothers and friendships, destiny and fate. It was epic and timeless and so so sad. It was about seeking approval, time and again, and those you look up to letting you down. It was about finding yourself starting something you didn't intend. It was about trying and failing to change your future, railing against the powerlessness of life, and in that sense it felt vast and hopeless and predestined. I don't know if that's what you intended, but it was awesome and I loved it And, urm, if not, have a 'yay vid!' ;D Jaz

Thanks guys! Nos - I'm a total motion junkie too. ;D I used to have a real fear of static scenes; now I'm better about such things might work and sit well, but there was definitely a time where I'd add motion to any clip that wasn't moving. And I profess to not understanding anyone who didn't walk away from this movie thinking "that movie should have been called Loki." Just, right? Eunice - Landscapes and objects are just so much easier to vid than people, yo. ;D Jaz - I'm so very glad that it worked for you on an emotional level. That's really something that I'm trying very hard to work towards and it's one of those very subjective areas where every viewer will have their own response based on their own experiences and biases, so for me, the vidder can only do so much, and the rest is up to luck and timing. And yes, it's a film. Thor is one of the Marvel superheroes that had their own movie this year and will join forces next year in The Avengers film. I think Loki is actually gonna be the main villain in that movie, so I'm very excited about it. And, yes! The way you wrote about the way it made you feel, the ideas there in your reaction, that's pretty much exactly what I was trying to strive for in the incoherent babble I was rambling over in the feedback thread. ;D You basically proved here that this kind of emotionally connective comments can be provided without using technical terms or knowledge of source, so I'm feeling rather vindicated. And, thank you! ;D

So, the whole idea of the forum is totally working out for me Jaz

Maybe I'll be able to see him in a play sometime. That would be quite cool. LOL same here! But then I noticed he's really freaking attractive even in blond curls...I'm doomed. And btw, let me do this feedback thing right even in here (I already sort of did on LJ): I have to be honest, this is the kind of vid that IMO improves and improves in your eyes at every viewing, at least for me! The first time around I loved the motion, and well, LOKI!!, but I wasn't exactly in love with the song. And that is fundamental for me. BUT, I rewatched this today again and again, and now it works on every level. I simply adore the parallels you make between Laufey and the forst giants and Loki, especially that part that finishes at 1:48 (with that breathtaking shot of Loki's face). I love the juxtaposition of his arm and the frost giant's frozen arm! And well, all the little glances at Thor and jealousy and scheming were so beautifully integrated in the video, I don't really know how to explain that but it was really touching. Secondly, the motion was awesome. I liked a lot that part in the beginning with the three interrupted panning shots (if you understand what I mean here you are a genius, because I have no idea what I'm saying) to the hammer and then to Thor branding it. And another great part is when Odin picks it up and then swings it after Thor when he bans him, Lovely motion there, and of course it all ends with Loki's little cunning face at 1:20. So, briefly, I LOVE THIS VIDEO. <3 PS: he lives in the UK, yes, if you ever know of him being in another play PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

Thank you Lu! I'm glad the music grew on you. I was listening to it and for some reason it just really came across as a Loki vid, even though at that stage I'd only seen half the movie randomly on a flight, and didn't know how the story ended. And, yay, the parallels and motion just sort of fell out of the source, so I'm glad they worked for you too.
