Fandom: The Walking Dead Music: Search & Destroy by 30 Seconds to Mars Not about any specific character or pairing, just the show in general. Follows the storyline of both seasons. Contains spoilers and a little bit of blood and gore. There are a few scenes within the first minute that I'm not satisfied with. I tried to make them look like they're memories of past events (which they are in the show), and now I just think I should have left them untouched. But too late now. Otherwise I'm quite happy with it, but open to constructive criticism and any feedback in this thread or on youtube! It's already blocked in Germany on YT, so I've uploaded it on Vimeo as well. vimeo.com/44213892password: zombies www.youtube.com/watch?v=GK4M_SH1SHQ

Hi Kali! I've never watched this show, but I feel like this vid gave me a really good sense of not just the overarching story (zombie apocalypse) but also the range of emotion in the show. It really conveyed both the horror and desperation as well as a sense of hope. I love the sequence of church scenes, the guy putting the flower in the vase, and the people drinking wine together (and the red wine is great for continuing the religious imagery as well as adding another dimension to the sense of hope that that sequence conveys). I also love the clips of people taking action together at various parts of the vid, especially of people digging graves together during the bridge. It, once again, really conveyed the horror of the experience but with a tinge of hope, as they cooperatively deal with what's become of their city and hopefully can try to move forward together.
I also liked the clip of the zombie (I assume) brain scan. It piqued my curiosity about how the zombie apocalypse happened and how the zombie mythology works in the show.
Oh, and it's cool how "search and destroy" applies to both humans and zombies!
I'm guessing the clips that were slightly different colors were the memories? It was hard for me to tell, but I'm not sure how one would convey that to someone who's not familiar with the fandom.
Thanks for sharing this with us!
Edited to add: Oh, and thanks for the blood and gore warning. This vid was basically at the upper end of how much of that I can stand, so I always appreciate a warning.

Thanks for watching even though you're not a fan of the show! It's good to get another perspective. You've pretty much summed up everything I wanted to get across with this video. And you also pointed out things that I didn't even notice myself - like the red wine after the church scenes. I wasn't even aware of the religious element there, now it fits even better. Also, I've included the blood & gore warning into the description on youtube directly, thank you for reminding me

I liked how you used the music in dramatic musical moments, such as the arrow through the head at 1:30. That was really cool. I also dug the way you used layers and colouring, visually the composition worked really well for me. On the concrit side, I felt the pacing of the visuals, particularly in the second half, didn't really feel like it matched to the speed and energy of the music. I would have liked to see the pacing picked up via faster cuts or more motion, etc, to reflect the similar ramping up of the music.

Thanks, obsessive That's something I'll keep in mind for future vids.
