For anyone who wants an adventure in a decidedly different video editing program, I offer my services as a (non-expert) guide to the Blender Video Sequence Editor. Blender is free and open source software, so no money (or piracy) is required to obtain it; it is available for all major operating systems; and it is powerful and flexible. The downside to Blender is that the official documentation sucks (again, this is open source software), and while there is a wealth of user-created tutorials out there, those are not geared towards the specific needs of vidders. (Blender is primarily used for 3D animation work.) And Blender's interface is not what I'd call particularly self-explanatory. For this reason, I'd be happy to answer what questions I can or hold anyone's hand through their first steps in Blender. For the same reason, if anyone else out there is already vidding with Blender, why not pool our knowledge in this thread?

Thank you, tbm! I don't have need for new vidding software at the moment, but this is a great resource.

Thanks! I posted at your LJ but I'll note that I downloaded Blender yesterday and I want to learn to use it so I can have an alternative to Corel VS. I prefer using my Linux laptop to the Windows computer all day long. ;D
