I've been trying to use the crop feature in MPEG streamclip to get rid of some letterboxing, but the end result is my picture being squished and the black bars remaining the same size. I've already followed various online tutorials' screenshots: those settings are producing this effect. Has anyone seen this before? I'm probably setting something wrong, but it's not any of the obvious things.

Dumb question, but somebody's gotta ask it. Did you check the "scale" box? ;D

Dumb question, but somebody's gotta ask it. Did you check the "scale" box? ;D It appears to be a drop-down in the version I have (1.9.2 for Mac). I tried it on all the possible settings with no change in the output. I am so confused.

I've not tried to crop in Mpeg Streamclip, so I'm no help with that... but if you can't resolve the issue, you could crop in Handbrake, perhaps? I guess it depends on what kind of file you are trying to get out, because I'm not sure it has all the output options of Mpeg Streamclip.

Huh. What do you know. Handbrake did what I wanted automatically. Sweet.
I still wish I knew what I was doing wrong in MPEG Streamclip though. (This is a Festivid or I'd upload the files somewhere and see if anyone wanted to poke at them. Maybe after reveals...)

(This is a Festivid or I'd upload the files somewhere and see if anyone wanted to poke at them. Maybe after reveals...) I used MPEG Streamclip a while ago to crop a mixed ratio vid and it worked for me following the tutorial here: fpvideos.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=nutsbolts&action=display&thread=1478I'm not sure if this is any help at all to you, but I thought I'd toss it out there. (That was me instigating the post back in 2007.)
