I saw this trailer for ETV (Expanding the Verse), a vidding forum that sprang up last year after the mods of the Supernatural vidding forum deleted the community. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tm_BbImv5Lo (there are actually two promos, this is the first one) I thought it a great way to reach out to vidders who use Youtube as their primary community. (tossing the idea out to members of this community, hint hint). Which leads me to my next question: anyone here from the Supernatural Video Forum? Who started vidding on Youtube? Other forums or communities? MD

I started Vidding on WeBob (We Band of Buggered), and when that vanished I never really got back into any sort of community. Which was why I was so excited about this forum. Vidders, everywhere!

If you have time, can you peek at the WeBob Fanlore entry and see if any changes/additions need to be made? Thanks. fanlore.org/wiki/We_Band_of_BuggeredMD

Memories! *sniffle* looks pretty complete to me. Can't really talk about the hours of hilarious chat if no one ever kept logs

Soon after I started vidding, I joined the Kawoosh Stargate vidders' forum. This was really a great and supportive community. I still keep in touch with some fellow vidders from there. As the shows have been finished, the forum became abandoned. I still miss it. I'm also excited about this forum, though I tend to lurk unfortunately. Bad habit, I know. I'M trying to end this.

That's a fabulous idea! I've seen some things like that on Youtube for other fandom ventures, but I hadn't thought about it for here.
I've posted to Zinelist since it seems like somewhere that reaches a very different audience from LJ announcements.
Animemusicvideos.org has an extensive but now somewhat inactive set of forums. There are periodic posts there asking for an amvs.org style site for LAMVs (live action music videos) or to allow announcement posts for LAMVs. I don't know if it would be worth posting in whatever off-topic forum they have there and inviting people over here, but maybe it's something to consider? (I'm not exactly active over there as is probably obvious, and most of the posts about live action vid stuff are a few years old.)

Expanding the Verse forum is currently running a poll on it's future. I did join but felt that I didn't quite fit, which is more about me than them as they were welcoming. I'm not big with SPN so that may have been the reason.
The two forums I belonged to were Midnight Lair and Reverie and I remember those fondly.
