I kinda figured Jimmy was a goner when we found out about him and Mommy. Everything felt like we were going to see the end of him. Too much resolution in the last few episodes, no future on the horizon. I am surprised that he would leave his son with his mother, considering.
Nucky was supposed to be a bad guy and we kinda forgot when he was so bad at it this year, but it's good he's finally living up to his own hype. I think Margret has lost her mind though.

It was weird because everything pointed toward Jimmy being killed off, but I still couldn't make myself believe it because he's pretty much co-lead. It was gutsy and cool, although I'm not sure what it'll mean for the show long-term. Hope that means Richard gets more screentime. I'm glad Nucky finally got his hands dirty. Agree Margaret has gone off the deep end. I wouldn't have minded if they didn't sort of force it on us all at once since the polio storyline. I mean, the Catholicism was always there but it still felt odd and clunky how quickly she progressed since then. Not sure what all of this means for s3... I have apprehension.

Didn't get to see the finale until today! ZOMG WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT. Nucky getting his hands dirty is both welcome and sad to me. On one hand, there was no way he was going to continue to be a serious threat unless he took decisive action against Jimmy for the attempted hit. On the other hand, it meant killing off not only one of my favorite characters, but a dynamic and fascinating one too. Agreed. I can see where it's coming from, but it just seems like too little too late. I buy that she's using her Catholicism as a weapon because it's one of the only ones she's got, but I don't think SHE knows that. It feels childish to me, marrying Nucky for the monetary/societal gains, and then turning around and going "looks like you can't trust me either!" Reading this interview with Terrence Winter made me feel a little bit better, because it raised some very good points (the need for growth in Nucky, Jimmy basically being on a downward spiral since the beginning, Margaret using the deed money to balance out her karma). Mostly, I'm happy to hear Richard and Gillian will be back, Van Alden's going to probably end up as Elliot Ness after all, and that S3 will focus on my New York boys (EVERYTHING needs moar Rothstein).

I thought that but then I remembered it was HBO and they are willing to make moves like that. It was a weird season cause I was never quite sure where they were going to go with everything, cause it makes subtle moves between giant leaps. Part of me isn't sure if I liked the season or not because of it. I will probably have to watch it again. I think my big problem with Margaret is the Catholicism, I don't get it. And I end up siding with Nucky cause I like his pov better.

I thought that but then I remembered it was HBO and they are willing to make moves like that. LOL, see, I remembered it was HBO and that everything hardcore is supposed to happen in the penultimate episode, not the season finale. ;D Agreed will definitely have to watch the season again. I don't like being drip fed an episode a week. My attention span is too short to remember what's been happening. If I end up finding an appropriate Jimmy vidsong, I'd definitely have to rewatch the whole series. ;D voodoochild - *nod nod* The only way they can fill the hole that Jimmy left is IMO giving Richard a much bigger role, I think. I hope that happens! Now that you mention Margaret weaponising her position... it seems to me that there are certain parallels between now, and back in mid-s1 when she called the St Patty's Day protest outside the town hall (right before she and Nucky got together). She's in a weaker position compared to him, but she has a way of making her presence known. Thanks for the link! Off to read.

;D *Kermitflails* YAAAAAAAAAY. If you vidded BE, I might explode of happiness.
(Also, I'm terribly fond of the Raconteurs "Broken Boy Soldier" for Jimmy, and Jimmy/Gillian to Laura Marling's "Devil's Spoke".)
Exactly. They've shown that while Margaret isn't always proactive, when her back's against the wall, she can surprise everyone. I'm thinking specifically of both that moment in 1.05 (the Temperance protest you mentioned) and when she cons Nucky's ledger and money out of the Feds and then gives it back to him.

Damn. I really am going to have to watch this. (I haven't seen ANY of S2 but this isn't a show where I really care about spoilers.) And I've mentioned my Jimmy/Gillian song, yes?

YES YOU DO. WE CANNOT DO PARALLEL JIMMY/GILLIAN SONGS IF YOU DO NOT.
(Also, you are going to adore Esther Randolph. Just saying.)

... sooooo I just finally actually SAW the finale (yes, after having clipped it already, I operate in strange order).
Well, FUCK.
GLASS CASE OF EMOTION.
Tommy Darmody is so doomed.
FUCK.
You'd think knowing going in would help, wouldn't you?
