Scary Doctor it is. That music is going to be so fun to work with.

nos, I had a bad fallout with Doctor Who a few years ago, but I would totally watch a Doctor Is Scary vid! This afternoon, I had a scary bunny with very sharp teeth corner me in a dark alley and INSIST I listen to this vid idea it had. I thought I was pretty much done vidding the various Astaire/Rogers movies, but according to this bunny, I am not. My favorite band, Hem, just released a new song (" Identical Snowflakes"). This song is so reminiscent of the Tin Pan Alley/Great American Songbook songs in the musicals, and the lyrics tell such a clear story, that I can't resist. Plus I've always regretted that my other vids never gave me much of a chance to use my favorite dance (" Smoke Gets in Your Eyes") because it's so much slower than the others, but it'll fit perfectly here, as will some of the other slower dances I haven't worked with much. And the images of two identical snowflakes, "cut from the same paper," melting into each others' arms is just right for the source. Now I just need to listen to the song a gazillion more times to really figure out how it works.

Oh noes. I was listening to Florence + the Machine's "Shake It Out" earlier and the song has this phrase that reoccurs during the song, "It's always darkest before the dawn". And I suddenly remembered that Arthur uses that exact line in the season four opener and now I really want to vid that song for Merlin. Except that I see the vid as being all about angst and friendship and bravery and that sort of epicness wheras bits and pieces of the lyrics would be distinctively slashy/romantic. And while I do see the slashy subtext and even tend to shake my head at Merlin and Arthur and think, "Oh please, just get a room already" I don't actually slash them. And I can't really see myself making a slash vid. But I love this song. It's so uplifting and powerful. I think it would be awesome to vid. (And I bet it's been done before )

Florence would sit well with Merlin. (Well, Florence sits well with most sources, as evidenced by the latest theme round at DPTM, but I think there's a special fittingness to epic fantasy source.) Maybe it can be intendedas a friendship vid, and if people choose to interpret it as Arthur/Merlin, no harm no foul really?

@obsessive24 Definitely. It's probably a mixture of the powerful, energetic music (her music has such a pounding rhythm) and the slightly cryptic lyrics. It's tailor-made for epic fantasy sources.
I've been thinking about that. I'm just not sure how to work around these lines:
And our love is pastured such a mournful sound Tonight I'm gonna bury that horse in the ground
and And given half the chance would I take any of it back It's a fine romance but its left me so undone
as they seem pretty straightforward. It wouldn't be impossible, though, I guess. The lines are still fairly cryptic. (And one could interpret "romance" as what it used to be, the old word for a novel/story... *rubs chin*)
Reading over the lyrics again and that reoccuring theme of darkness and devils and starting anew and burying old secrets, this would probably make for a good Merlin character vid, too. Oooooh, I must ponder this. ;D ;D ;D

I'm just throwing this in here: someone should vid Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain" for John/Sherlock. Because it has all the lines like, 'Cause there's a side to you That I never knew, never knew All the things you'd say They were never true, never true And the games you'd play You would always win, always winand then in the end it even progresses to the fact that said person is obviously gone and has left the speaker behind and really, John/Sherlock anyone? I'm mostly a Gen vidder (and writer) so I'm not sure if I could do it right, but...yeah. If anyone else wants to do it, please do.

I finally got around to watching some Sherlock last night and, wow, that song really does sound appropriate.

My idea last night was Pretty fly for a white guy for Wooster & Jeeves.
So many good shots for "Give it to me, Baby."

My Premiere is totally broken at the moment, so I figured I'd brag about my latest bunny, since I can't actually do anything about it.
BBC Sherlock, Synesthesia. I noticed a lot of youtube vids cut around all the visual effects in the show, and I want to use the hell out of them and add my own. Perception and drowning in senses and all that jazz.
The song that inspired the idea was Into the Ocean by Blue October, at least, one verse in it. I have decided I likely won't be using that song, cause it has shippy overtones, and I don't want ships to factor into this video. The lyrics in question:
"Now floating up and down, I spin colliding into sound, like whales beneath me diving down, I'm sinking to the bottom of my everything that freaks me out, the light house beam has just run out, I'm cold as cold as cold can be."
So that's the feel I am going for, something only slightly dark with lots of twists in the music, about senses. For once, I don't have a song to work with (unless I decide to try and work around the shippy parts in Into the Ocean)
I am also going to have to learn more After Effects to pull this off, but for once, it's exciting me. I want to add splashes of colour and text and...
I might be insane.

That sounds very ambitious indeed! Looking forward to what you do with the idea.

As I suspect is the case for most vidders, I have way more bunnies than I have time to vid, but the peskiest ones I have right now are for source that doesn't even exist yet. I've got, like, three Hunger Games vid bunnies, but they would all be for the entire series.
I wasn't vidding when Harry Potter or The Lord of the Rings were still being released (HP must've driven vidders nuts waiting!) and haven't read/watched Game of Thrones, so this is my first experience with this weird feeling of vid bunnies for books that you know will be made into movies but haven't yet.
I guess I could go throw stuff from the first film that seems relevant down on a timeline and make notes for stuff that I hope appears in the next films, then put the project away for safekeeping for the next few years. It's not like I don't have plenty of other ideas waiting to be vidded!

Like, I have piles of vid ideas for that source but they all require footage from Catching Fire & Mockingjay as well. *drums fingers on table* Not fair!

Let's just hope we don't lose our inspiration by the time Mockingjay premiers! Or rather that I don't -- I haven't vidded long enough to know yet how fickle I might be.

Ha, yes! I have a song in store that I've been dying to vid for THG but I think I may actually have to wait for more footage to make it fully awesome Woe is me.
