Life intervened, but I'm back to doing these Streaming: vimeo.com/33403747 (password: premiere) Download: fan-eunice.com/effects1.aviSince this got long I decided to do the effects/transitions folders next time. This time out focuses on stuff you can do right on the timeline or in the effects tab without applying a separate effect to the clip. So, 1. Adjusting the constant speed of a clip using the rate stretch tool. 2. Keyframing basic properties for position and scale. (also, adjusting keyframes either in the effects tab *or* right on the clip in the timeline) 3. Fade to blacks and very basic overlays using Opacity. 4. Adjusting the variable speed of a clip using time remapping (possibly the coolest thing on offer in the basic effects tab) And, again...Premiere is a jealous god when it comes to RAM and hates my recording software so I could only scrub instead of playing through, but your previews/scrubbing will be fine if you aren't running other memory hogging programs at the same time

legoline - As big a fan as I am of Premiere, I just checked and there actually is a function similar to time remap in Vegas using a thing called velocity envelopes. I have no clue where they are or how to work them in the program, but it does exist!

Hi, I'm a moron! Discovered just this morning, you do NOT actually have to double click on a clip in your timeline and pull it into the source window in order to use the effects tab. Just selecting it on the timeline will bring up it's properties in the effects tab. I don't use it all that much, which is why I never figured this out before and was just running on the assumption that it had to be in the source window to mess with it. IT DOESN'T. *facepalm* Please disregard the bit about double clicking on clips, and just select them and go to the effects tab. Sorry about that.

eunice, I joined so that I could tell you that you rock for doing these!! Just learned I did things the hard way on my last vid . And now I know how to fix that jump in speed! Thanks for taking the time to do them. I look forward to learning so much on this forum.
