It's interesting to see you distinguish between synesthia-based musicality and a kind of broader "the visuals develop with the song" musicality. I also tend to think that way, but also feel that different songs are better suited to each. Yeah, I think you're onto something there. Certainly the fundamental idea that the visuals somehow = the music ultimately derives from the same place, but the expression of the various aspects of that (or at least favouring certain aspects over other aspects) will depend largely on the song. I'm weirdly glad to hear that you had to actually work at upping your game in The Last Firstborn. For some reason I just had this notion of you randomly throwing clips onto the timeline and having it magically come out looking like that. ;D Hard work is more admirable than magic, although a lot less intimidating, methinks. *nods* I especially seem to feel that way when I see the multitudes of Glitch Mob vids on YT.

hahaha, well to be honest, most of the clips were simply thrown on the timeline, albeit not randomly. By pushing myself I mean I tried not to settle for "adequate" if it seemed possible to do better. At the time I think I knew this was going to be my last pure action vid for a while so I wanted to make sure to go out with a bang, so to speak. Weird, I've never heard of the Glitch Mob. I probably need to spend more time on YT.

I just wanted to say that I just went over my Festivids assignement again to do some final tweaking and...you know, the last draft I had of the vid, the one that I deemed fnished, still goes back to the time when I thought cutting to the beat was the proper way to do it. Consequently, everything was cut to the beat. Everything. I went back to it earlier, now aware that I wasn't going to get frowned at if not everything was cut on the beat, and you know what? Everything that I wasn't happy about regarding the vid could be traced back to the idea that I had to cut on every beat. There were scenes that were a notch too long, or too short, and I went back and fixed all that just now and tried to squeeze in more musicality and...it's so much better now. Some things still have to be adjusted a little, I guess, but overall I'm a lot happier with it now. Most of it is still cut to the beat to some extent, but where it doesn't fit, it's not. So, I just wanted to say: you guys rock ;D Thanks for all the fantastic advice I've received in the few weeks that this forum's been online. I've already improved so much. It may have taken me years to figure this out by myself
