Quick technical note: Premiere was really not happy with me running the screencast software at the same time I had it open, I had to kind of record in chunks (hence a couple of hiccups) and the scrubbing and source/preview playback are not nearly as smooth as they would be if I was running it solo. Make sure all memory hogging programs on your computer are closed out before you open Premiere and it'll be way smoother than what's going on here Covered in this screencast: 1. Laying down the audio track. 2. Navigating the source window 3. Creating subclips and bins. 4. Getting clips on to the video track 5. The razor/selection tools streaming: vimeo.com/32811013 (password: premiere) download: fan-eunice.com/prem2.avi

As always very educational, eunice. I had a discussion with giandujakiss about approaching multiseason source and she prefers different sequences to store similiar clips. I tried this with for example 'Scully with a gun' and 'Flashlights shots', but I can't seem to get a hang on working with several sequences. I can keep better track of clips, if I have them in one sequence. I prefer a storage vid track, mostly the first one to drag interesting looking ones in, I found while scubbing through. But the subclips are something I can see myself using frequently, especially for eps I know will be featured heavily in a vid.
So yeah, you give me some ideas to make vidding easier for me. Thank you. *twirls*

astarte - YAY, I'm so glad it was of use to you. I think there are as many ways to break down/organize multiseason/lots of episode source as there are vidders...'cause it can be so overwhelming to wade through.
I'm actually kind of jealous of people who can pre-clip down to the "Scully with a gun" level. It's not just that I don't have the patience to do that (though that is also true), but that if I go lower than scene level prior to actually laying clips on the timeline I start freezing up in indecision like 'But what if I need that?' until I end up clipping...well...everything, which sort of defeats the purpose.
Scrub and grab on the fly is the only way I can get my brain to follow patterns and pick out what I need.

I ended up with five minutes of 'Scully with a gun' and then had to throw my hands in the air defeated, because that was not a storage sequence it was a vid on its own. But it was sure nice to only scrub through that sequence when searching for one clip I needed. Yeah, so what you said about clipping everything is something I struggle with constantly. I mean I have gotten better at it, my finished vids don't end up with an extra hour of unused footage tacked on any more. And I got better at gathering clips instead of scenes, but I think this is the way it is with several seasons of footage. I'm always in awe with how Xandra just cuts to the chase and lifts what she needs instead of what I might need in theory somewhere down the line of this vid.

Thank you so much for this! I've been wanting to try out some different vidding software and downloaded a trial of Premiere, so this is pretty much invaluable - last time I tried anything other than iMovie I kind of ran screaming
